Bare minimum income for yourself in NYC, I suppose that is a pro. This place is a pathetic joke. I cannot underscore how inept management was during my stint at Bizbash. In my opinion, the company is very cheap. I witnessed them having great difficulties retaining employees. I was embarrassed to have meetings at the office as it looked so horribly outdated inside. Although the brand is somewhat acknowledged in the industry it was impossible to sell advertising here. People always cancelled their accounts and/or the clients never saw value in this brand so never bought advertising. I feel this brand’s days are numbered. In retrospect, it was a severe waste of time and I would never recommend this ‘glorified gig’ to anyone. Avoid at all costs. Since it is a small company- you get to learn alot. Cons definitely are one too many. Micromanagement at it's finest. Finance guy would come out to take attendance and deduct PTOs if someone was late. Depts did not communicate. Low than market salary. Once you leave- they don't even care about you or be happy to say the least that you progressed-selfish employees. CEO has a million ideas yet can't stick to one. Upper management abuses privileges. Flexibility with working from home. Its a toxic work environment due to the poor attitude of the upper management (Which only Includes the CEO and a new inexperienced senior manager they recently hired) Every department in the company is short-staffed. CEO lies too much and wouldn't support you in most situations, has a poor management style. Never appreciate how much of a hard work you do. Too many products are there for sales department to sell. Most employees are usually confused on the products they have. Pay is below market standards. Micro-management is at its peak here. Plays favorites to detriment of the company. I think the board should've fired the CEO of this company a long time ago, If they really want to bring in the change. Do you know how he can make money? Not only do they not pay well, I would have to fight for my paychecks EVERY WEEK. HR/Accounting (a two person team) is such a joke. They would blatantly lie to my face about my checks being in the mail. Then they turned to me and was told I didn't seem invested. Seriously? As a freelancer, you're supposed to be told what to do. They would just expect things to happen without asking me to complete tasks that were never assigned. No direction from management and lack of accountability. Clients and active business are left hanging when veteran reps leave. There isn't effective handling of accounts and/or quick organization when veteran sales reps leave. False promises and improper training. Company is not in a good place for longevity of business in all departments, especially events and sales. In the last year (2017) we have used attrition to reduce payroll and reshape senior management in a flatter more responsive approach. Good news is that we have started new year with new sales management, rethought customer service and other changes that have resulted in best start to new year from revenue perspective. I was able to create the job I wanted at the company by pushing for new initiatives and endeavors. By proving that these endeavors could be successful, I was able to grow tremendously and advance quickly in the company. If you work hard and prove yourself, you will be rewarded and respected. Putting on events and networking with some of the top names in the event industry was exciting and beneficial for my career. I learned many new skills over the years , and it created the foundation for a strong career path. I found the CEO to be very approachable, he listened whenever I presented concerns and tried his best to deal with any problems. The open door policy with the CEO was helpful and made my tenure at BizBash a positive experience. Could use a bit more full time staff, but found that when I needed help as things got busier I was given the support needed if I spoke up.
