Bad leadership that bred toxicity. My manager would literally stir up drama just so she could say she coached her employees on workplace conflict.
She determined your worth based on skin color vs what you brought to the table.
Also, the pay sucked.

Management appears for 3-4 hours per day, if that, and are sometimes tipsy at work or sleeping on the sofa. Engineers try to step in to fill the void and, in so doing, neglect their individual responsibilities.
"Weekly" team meetings are unidirectional, just the boss announcing some things, and don't even happen often.
Management is usually absent and does not get involved in project development. This has lasted for a year and continues, which is truly shocking.
Staff watch a lot of internet videos or run other businesses out of the office. Bored staff like to fly drones around the office, distracting those who are working hard.
Upper management is rather good at certain skills but totally detached from what some groups are doing and just expects them to magically produce undefined product features.
Hardware is sometimes incorrectly designed and the yield of functional development devices from the factories is sometimes below 30%. Imagine trying to develop a product when nothing works right.
Firmware and Quality are then blamed for slow development or dysfunctional devices. There is no versioning of hardware. There is no development process in place, at all. There are no requirements, no design reviews, FW and QA receive no input and are therefore unable to function well, which is not their fault.
Different pieces from different disciplines do not fit together because of this lack of coordination. This creates stress, scapegoating, and discord. There are a few very hard workers but they are leaving quickly, leaving the drone fliers and TV watchers behind.

Although owned by a large U.K. tobacco company, blu ecigs has a small company feel with room to grow if you have the desire to learn. Located close to Uptown Charlotte, you feel like you are working in the heart of the city without having to pay to park. An entrepreneurial spirit is essential, you have to want to learn and grow with the company.

If you are not used to sudden change or having to change priorities suddenly, this might not be the place for you. The electronic cigarette industry is constantly changing and what the consumer wants one month might not be what they want in a year. Be prepared to change course and direction.

Two weeks of vacation time when starting of the job and almost everyone was very kind.
|
Making $12 an hour isn't really much dealing with the constant changes and aggravated customers with wishy-washy supervisors. Especially when you're dealing with customers that literally depend on this product in order to satiate their addiction. In essence I wouldn't suggest to work here unless you really need money.

Make the pay better. You obviously need the customer service end as thousands of your e-cigs break per month (only counting the ones that are called in). The fact that your employees have to deal with extremely irate customers every day knowing that they only walk out with less than $1600 a month doesn't do much for morale.
