Very casual envirnoment. They hire a lot from very large, successful schools, so many of my fellow employees are very intelligent. I good first stepping-stone job. They also train you quite well on the job and the job will teach you many new skills. Also, excellent benefits!

Very casual environment, this was listed as a pro, but this also leads to people treating others somewhat unprofessionally and it made me quite uncomfortable. Many employees who work here are, in my opinion, overqualified for the work they do and they're overworked and underpaid. There is a very high turnover rate because of this; those who are overqualified leave very quickly for better opportunities. The management is extremely young and tends to not recognize appreciate talent or hard work. The main focus here, at least in my department, was on speed rather than quality of work. There is room for growth, but they absolutely play favorites and not all opportunities are open to everyone. They also are not afraid to force you into a new position without asking you if you want it, without official documentation, and without a pay raise.

The company culture is a great one. It's obvious that they care about the morale of their employees. Management is very focused on developing their employees. If you work hard and show determination, it is rewarded. Although the company is growing, it maintains the start up feel, which eliminates office politics and allows individuals to focus on actually working hard and developing.

The company is growing and doing well, and the excitement of playing for a winning team is contagious. The senior management have created a culture of transparency, and there's a monthly team meeting where anyone can bring any question to the table, which really helps clarify how the work that you're doing fits into the overall company strategy which is rewarding and motivating.

Management are much better salesman than they are true leaders or businessmen. Little to no respect for most employees, as several emotional outbursts have demonstrated. CEO has burned many bridges for potential partnerships and clients, and with former employees, due to emotional decision making and poor judgement.
Bad rep in the industry can be a hurdle when pursuing your next job. Many companies are aware of the cornering and aggressive sales tactics used by BrightScope, as well as the personality flaws of management, and take extra caution in evaluating your own moral fiber.
Unless you are an executive or programmer, do not expect decent pay. Majority of employees make ~$15/hr. Executives, and persons with dirt on certain management, make an excessive amount of money.
Do not get tricked into working here - hold off if you can. There are PLENTY of other opportunities, just look harder.
Ultimately, the turnover is ridiculously high (something near 20%), and for good reason. People constantly leave for greener pastures, and NEVER regret it. CEO will sweet talk you all day, but when you put in your 2 weeks for a better opportunity, you suddenly become a terrible employee that he never wanted.

High turnover speaks volumes. You are lucky the job market is still so poor. Regardless, burned bridges and poor rep greatly hinder the company's long-term potential.
Be honest and straight forward with your employees. Empty promises have led employees to doubt everything management states. Most are fully aware of manipulation tactics.
Don't be so bitter when people leave the company, especially as it probably stems from you. People leave companies everyday, but employers very rarely act in the immature manner you do.

The employer gave a lot empty promises and even high pay rate just to get you come on board. However, the management is out of control, kept trying different directions when the plan was in the middle of implementation. When they changed plans, figured you are not longer needed, they will let you go politely without giving meaningful reasons in front of you. However, they made up bad things about you to EDD, just to save money from the unemployment insurance payment.
