Put a magnifying glass on the sales team culture going forward--it's a heavily competitive environment where conflict can arise easily if the company isn't careful. It was starting the process of doing internal employee surveys when I left which should rectify that issue going forward. I also recommend focus on business strategy---the sales team was constantly spinning its wheels trying to create its own prospects out of thin air in a heavily competitive market for this type of product. I was one of 3 new account executives that either were wrongfully fired or quit after being bullied by a manager within months of working there. I was terminated for not meeting sales goals that were unrealistic during a holiday and I was terminated mid-month when I was on track to meet the goal. Give reps at least 2 rolling months to make up for a missed goal month; it's not realistic to expect your reps to meet quota every single month; some months will be high, some will be low. Everyone has one bad month, especially when new. I'm bringing in $80K in revenue a month at my current company and brought in an average 1.5 million annual at my previous company, so if I wasn't meeting quota expectations and neither are any of the other reps that aren't being handed leads, it's time to do some self-reflection as a company and exercise some humility. My advice is to create an inbound lead rotation that doesn't favor handing over all the hot leads to management only, providing them to AE's in a fair rotation to give new reps a fighting chance (granted that they pass a demo test and can sell confidently). There were managers that had worked for 5 years being favored and hand-fed deals from hot leads on our website and rumored to be making $2-300K a year in commission when new reps were tirelessly working and flailing to survive without any handouts, or even a list of regular leads that were promised in the interview process. Speaking of leads--don't forbid your sales reps to do prospecting during business hours when you aren't giving them consistent leads; it's an oxymoron to prevent an AE from prospecting--it's necessary for sales success. I was forced to work overtime (for which I was illegally not compensated) during times when I needed more leads and the manager refused to give me any. The auto team is an exception to this feedback--the new manager seemed very positive and supportive of his team, but I didn't work directly with him, so I can't speak to his team in detail. I'd advise sales leadership to take away the qualifier; I spent many hours working hard to bring in thousands of dollars and made $0 in commission in that month due to barely missing quota over Christmas time. I often witnessed AE's holding on and rolling over their deals because of this rule if they got back from vacation too late in the month and couldn't meet quota, invariably not getting paid on the minimal deals they would bring in if they tried. That leads me to my final recommendation: Exercise common sense when evaluating terminating a new employee for not meeting quota during the biggest holiday of the year--especially when that sales rep has a consistent history of exceeding quota on their resume. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Jan 11th, 2021 06:59PM Jan 11th, 2021 06:59PM Broadly Technology Software & Computer Services

private:broadly https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1013679 May 4th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Broadly Customer Success Manager Oakland, CA A Love/Hate Relationship The Customer Success team was the best team I have ever worked on. It's known throughout the company as the best team because every single member of it was gregarious, passionate about small businesses and willing to pitch in whenever asked. Truly felt like we were a family. If you're hired, you'll notice almost immediately that transparency is preached heavily. Straight out the gate you feel like you've finally found the tech company you've always wanted because it has heart. The good people at the company truly do have heart and they make the experience wonderful, but then you'll notice Broadly uses that to its advantage to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. In the 6 months leading up to their 50% reduction in workforce that took place at the end of March 2020, there seemed to be massive changes to the organization on a bi-weekly basis. Each change came with little to no explanation, causing many to worry about the health of Broadly. Occasionally, they would call an all-hands meetings after really big changes but the meetings usually lasted no longer than 5 minutes and consisted of the CEO reading a "heartfelt" speech from her phone. As soon as she was done reading, the meeting would be over. No time for Q&A. Anyone you talked to, no matter the department, felt a heaviness in the air at the workplace. As the months went on, less information was given, and it felt as if we just had to sit back and watch Broadly dwindle. It wasn't a rare sight to see someone crying in the bathroom or in the stairwell due to lack of clarity or leadership in their role. And then came the layoffs. All the fears we had about Broadly not truly caring about its employees came into fruition. We had a company wide Zoom meeting where the CEO announced that they would be laying off 50% of the company. She ended the call by saying that all of us would be receiving a zoom link over email as soon as the zoom was over, and that link was the golden ticket to find out if we got to keep our job or not. Well, the links did not come immediately and all at once. They seemed to slowly trickle in, leaving the whole company on slack to anxiously ask each other which link they received. Overall, I was surprised to see that most of the people who got laid off were Broadly's managers and most tenured people. Some teams were left with only 1 person, and that person was usually the newest and most novice on the team at the time. This tells me that Broadly is seriously struggling financially and that they had to get rid of the people who were getting paid the most. It doesn't really take a rocket scientist to figure that out. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 5.0 3.0 5.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1013679 Open Practice what you preach. 0.0 [{"countHelpful": 0, "languageId": "eng", "userJobTitle": "Human Resources Manager", "__typename": "EmployerResponse", "originalLanguageId": null, "id": 2623376, "responseDateTime": "2020-05-15T09:05:28.78", "translationMethod": null, "response": "Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback, and your disappointment surrounding the separation is understandable.
