A work culture willing to experiment with good ideas and promote them from any part of the company. The company often seemed "top heavy" - with more executive-level staff than worker bees. Caerus's leadership failed to win several contracts in 2015, resulting in the loss of 60% of the firm's staff. The firm continues to expend precious financial resources on subpar data analysts with paltry qualifications. The CEO spends more time tweeting than actually running the company. Projects are managed by poorly-qualified "mid-career" folk who have little to no experience running their own projects. Project managers were insecure and micromanaged their team's work. They placed the CEO on a pedestal and feared rebuke, taking it as a personal failure. Any work I produced was a reflection on my project manager and as a result, they feared taking blame for the failure of their underlings. Analysts were poorly equipped to do their job. Project managers micromanaged the production of deliverables out of fear/insecurity. The CEO and COO were too busy on social media to run their company. It was a hot mess and is still a hot mess. Pay was poor and benefits were near nonexistent. The aforementioned subpar data analysts make six figures while analysts make about $11/hour (after taxes). Taking a lunch was strongly discouraged. Dysfunctional leadership, chronic instability with almost constant turnover. CEO insists that employees only come with solutions, leaving fixable problems to fester without effective management. COO creates crises out of nothing. The website sells a innovative small consulting firm which does a host of projects around the world. Pictures of past projects and current employees gives one a sense that there are diverse individuals on the team. Instead, the reality is there are no projects and the "employees" are consultants without projects or pay. The company only rides on the name of David Kilcullen and his personal connections within Washington with actual work, expertise, or credibility. The current "reorganization" is cover up for the implosion which was inevitable of falsly holding up a company without substantial projects and using the employee to feed/review, refine Kilcullen's book. It's not a think tank, consultancy, or project management firm. *** This company disseminated our team's sensitive US Govt internal research to outside intelligence agency.*** - Company was bankrupt (hidden for internal management) and sliced 25% off pay check until formal complaints. - obligated to work 60-80 hours but paid for 30hrs/week doing tasks inappropriate for the position I was hired for. - I was roller-coastered through various promises and promotional offers without any result. - Everyday was filled with drama, internal fighting, backstabbing, totally unethical & unprofessional environment. - Company lacked actual skills in research, monitoring& evaluation, consulting, or field work. - There were embarrassing personal attacks amongst senior management which outnumbered the actual non-senior team members. **Really sorry I joined such a place.** Find a credible, functional, reputable, profitable organization instead of falling for the glossy images on the company website.** Connect with past employees to learn more about the internal dysfunction & details.
