Custody officers were fantastic.
Staff RNs, LVNs, and CNAs were good to work with.

Lack of specific training
Expectation of relatively new employees to train the brand new employees
Hostile work environment from local upper management
Staff leaving not because of job requirements or inmates, but because of atmosphere perpetuated by upper management
Unprofessional statements from doctors and upper management that "So and so (inmate) is full of...."
Unprofessional behavior from staff doctor walking in and in the course of "Hi how are you? I'm Dr. So and so..." dropping 10 profanities in under 4 minutes. First impressions people.

It is a place where you have interactions with Minors on an hourly, daily basis taking care of their medical needs 24 hours. Doctors and Nurses are safe there as well as inmates. We have security personnel 24 hours around the clock It is a pleasant place to work for.
|
The drive to get there is one hour one way. When there is a fight we have to be ready in seconds / minutes to assess the situation and render medical care for anyone that has injuries.

Decent pay and fair benefits.

Promised the world during interview and orientation and they delivered nothing. Complete lack of training. Was told training would be 4-6 weeks. Spent my first 6 hrs cleaning and unloading bosses car of supplies stolen from company we are replacing. Great training on stocking shelves. Next 12 hrs shift I toured some of the jail, then followed another nurse around for most of the shift. Was given about 1.5 hrs of total training during this 12 hr shift. Next day came in and found all the trainers were on their way back to California They did nothing but complain about the lack of sunshine due to a tropical storm out of Caribbean and how they were losing their tans. That was all the training I was given. My fingerprint still isn’t registered with the jail so I have to bother the sheriffs officers to open doors. Company completely failed all of the new hires. They say they want to take over all of the jails in FL. This is definitely the way to make sure this is their first and last jail in FL.

Recently all staff was notified for the third time this year that they were blocking out all paid time off requests and vacation requests. This black out will remain in effect for the next five months until April 2018. With one exception if you are part of the program managers click or the assistant program managers click you are fine. Your days will be granted even after the black out. PTO is a benefit that employees get we just aren't allowed to use it. This is the case at Stanislaus County Modesto Ca.
