The WORST PLACE TO WORK IN CALIFORNIA. I really don't think they like each other. Maybe the atmosphere is better now, vs the.. management didn't help with any plans or path to help employees grow.

Guest service workers are good people, management does not appreciate them at all
|
Management showed poor initiative and were regularly submissive to overtly rude and belligerent guests which in turn made guest service workers look bad in front of the customers. A harsh truth about working here was, the only way you were ever going to get promoted is if you were considered "PR Friendly", meaning good looking enough and the right demographic. I saw multiple people who were overly qualified for promotions get passed over for people with far less experience and education, it never made sense. It was a joy to work with the coworkers i met and i wouldn't trade my experience there for anything in the world, but upper management turns it into a toxic money driven culture with little to no regard for the people that keep the wheels spinning (Guest Service, Retail, Food Court, Event Staff, Janitorial, etc..

I loved my career @ csc

Best career ever! Hands down! I started as a Host, and got promoted to a reservationist, I got a raise and had such an awesome time working. I feel like it wasn't even working because I loved it so much! I miss it SO MUCH! And loved all my fellow employees and the guests that visited the museum! YAY!! lol

The Science Center was a great place to work. One of my bucket list places. When I started there I told myself I’ll be here 6 month and it turned into 9 years.

Wasn't for Me.
|
Fun people to work with, however the management there is clumsy. A lot of miscommunication going down the chain of command. When it came to scheduling, they use an outdated hand updated system. Every month you are to resubmit your availability in writing. If it wasn't turned in on time, you were just randomly given hours. They'd work with you in some situations, like if you go to school or have a second job. But if you didn't they claimed ot was on you for not notifying

I spend my weekends giving tours of the Space Shuttle Endeavour and all of its subsystems. As head of finance for Lockheed Martin Space Operations, I had to know how all of the Shuttle components integrated (mating the External Tank to the Solid Rocket Booster and Orbiter).
Lockheed formed a join venture with Boeing to provide all Orbiter Maintenance and Launch Support Services. I spent years learning all the technical details our employees sorted out during Shuttle Operations.

I’ve loved the Science Center my entire life until I started working there. The management is awful and treat their employees with very little respect. When you make a report to HR they usually just make the situation worse. They do not care about there workers.

Volunteering here was a good experience. I sharpened my people and communication skills and got to learn more scientific processes. Everyone was always friendly and dedicated to the guests at the center. I liked most of the supervisors. An overall good place to work or volunteer at.
