With constant layoffs you get more responsibility

The CEO self promotes himself as being a dad on LinkedIn - he also lays off many Dads and Moms with 4 weeks severance.

Employers use the fact that they can fire you for any reason to their full advantage. You are on egg shells when working through CareRev. Anyone can cost you your job, even the house keeper can have the hospital request to NOT have you back. CareRev does not defend you. I’ve had DNS from
Hospitals and never patient related. My last DNS I was at the hospital on a day off, because of my association with CareRev I was place on DNS.

I don’t have any advise, as a former recruiter I know the relationship with the hospital is more important to the agency then the nurses. Employees are replaceable clients are harder to replace.

Great people, flawed leadership
|
|
- People: I had such a phenomenal team over the course of my time at CareRev, the people made CareRev a great place to work.
- Flexibility: Anyone could question process and implement improvements.
- Benefits: Solid remote work benefits and opportunities for growth.
- Good Work-Life Balance: Direct management does a good job of encouraging people to take time for themselves.
|
- Layoffs: The company grew too quickly, and did not account for potential economic downturns or new competitors in the space, resulting in massive layoffs over the course of the past year. I lay this on the feet of leadership not focusing on sustainability, but trying to gobble up marketshare, agreeing to unsustainable terms in contracting with customers to achieve arbitrary customer activation targets.
- Disconnected Leadership: I don't believe executive leadership at the company listens to their employees. They continue to try and course correct, but sometimes make their problems worse by not getting feedback from those actually doing the work.
- DEI: Anecdotally - Over my tenure, there were occurrences of female managers on other teams being terminated- while in my opinion not being provided adequate resources from leadership -while male managers (despite having those resources) who held responsibility for equal or more egregious failures were reassigned. Hopefully, the new CEO will be able to correct this pattern. Additionally, employee-led culture and DEI initiatives have been heavily curtailed due to layoffs.
- Unclear Growth Tracks: The path towards advancement at CareRev is often unclear. Employees have to justify with their managers against HR to get raises, and (symptomatic of leadership's failures to plan for the future) job titles are handled by slapping a "Senior" or "Lead" onto an existing position, rather than having an outlined path with real and explicit responsibility changes.

Focus on trying to restore the culture, and getting to a revenue-neutral or revenue-positive standpoint with the core product, rather than continually pursuing "hot startup" buzzwords and gimmicks that cost a lot, but don't actually contribute to a better customer and professional experience.

Company leaders are quitting for a reason

Great teammates that become lifelong friends.
Excellent collaboration between departments.
Flexible schedule with unlimited PTO.

Leadership not supportive although they say they are. Mass layoffs since Oct 2022. Very little room for advancement or growth.

Stop laying off the already overworked staff. The remaining staff you have now have zero work life balance and will surely be seeking employment elsewhere. Most staff were already predicting a layoff and have been applying to other places since start of 2023. It does not look like a stable company if your ELT is constantly changing and leaving themselves.
