It was a fun place to work at. Good people, good management and executives. They recently hire a new CEO. I really like him. They are changing their structure a bit and so they did lay off quite a few employees, including myself. But at the end of the day it is a business.

Gone downhill after takeover

Employees in every department were great to work with. Communication between our department and theirs was wonderful (however, management had become a great deal more difficult in the past year or so [see cons]. Loved working with the Sales department to develop their technical tools to use in the field. Creativity was strongly encouraged.
|
The takeover by another company a couple of years ago led to huge chaotic and uninformed changes. Most of the best talent left around this time. Due to concerns of redundancy in the two companies, some managers have done anything they can to ensure their position remains justified. This generally meant putting a higher priority on the number of people they manage instead of producing quality results from their team. This of course led to a great amount of uncertainty in the company. Unfortunately, encouragement for creativity took a nosedive at this time as well.

Results speak for themselves. Focus on quality instead of quantity. While a worker with little to no experience and has to be taught basic skills on the job costs the company a fraction of a local skilled employee in the short term, you can't get away from the truth that you get what you pay for. The ultimate measurement of your team's success will be in what they produce, which, when I moved on from the company, was not looking very good. More workers under you may look great on paper, but getting a smaller team of much higher skilled employees who really know what they are doing will be the only way you can be seen as a truly valuable asset and a hero to the company.

great atmosphere, great co-workers benefits are pretty good. middle management is pretty good. was a better company before they merged
|
change in upper management made working there made it hard to get up and go to work on a daily basis. upper management that was brought in had no experience in management or very little experience for the positions they were given.

This company was pretty cool about setting you up for success. HR and my supervisor told me straight out what I would need to do in order to progress in my career and better my skills. Also, I was rewarded for doing a great job and was specifically called out for it, which was nice to be recognized. Loved the review process too. HR lady, Georgann is a total peach.

It can get pretty loud in that office. Between people on the phone and people on the sales team ringing bells when they close deals for people, the volume can feel pretty high. I suggest headphones if you're not someone who has to be on the phone a lot.
