So much to write here. First off the management is terrible, they don't care about their employees and have lost touch with QWL balance. Drama! They do not care how long you have worked there, "Seniority means nothing to them" is what I was told before ultimately resigned. Went off on a medical leave and my personal medical issues were spread around the workplace by my manager at the time. I was so embarrassed I resigned. About 2-3 months after they moved all drayage CSR to El Salvador and fired all the people here.. Terribly sad that this company is still in business.

Work environment is great, easy going, no micro managing (you are expected to work at all times). Lower level employees are welcoming and friendly.
|
Everyone is out for themselves, lack of communication, disconnect from lower level employees and their managers. Company is growing too fast for upper management to be able to handle in a fragile industry. There is no long term plan other than to "stay afloat." This stresses out employees. Upper management plays obvious favorites.

Figure out what your plan is in the long run and don't blame the lower level employee for your lack of planning. Be more direct with your employees as no one ever knows what is going on with the company/branches.
Stop hiring 'senior' level employees that do not know the industry and cannot handle growth. Prepare for future expansion and shrinking due to the very unpredictable way the ocean drayage industry is. Pay attention to the ocean alliances, treaties and political events that affect this very fragile ecosystem.
Start taking responsibility for your own actions and blaming everyone else, it comes off as inefficient, immature and lowers the moral of the lower level employees.
From an outsiders stand point if management is just taking investors money and losing it, constantly changing strategy plans for operations, hiring, termination, outsourcing; this company is in trouble and is likely going to continue to lose money.

Work alongside hardworking individuals in a fast-paced environment. Little micromanagement from what I see and experience here, but still a supportive leadership team when needed. Exciting opportunity to learn and be a part of the growth of a start-up company. The Long Beach office caters lunch twice per week for employees, and celebrates birthdays monthly. Pretty good benefits for such a young company: medical/dental/vision, 401K company match, and generous PTO. Obviously, a big focus on technology, and making everything (employees, customers, and processes) more efficient through the use of Cargomatic's proprietary tech.

Start-up culture is not for everyone. Teams tend to run lean with an "all hands on deck" attitude. Depending on your position, you might be hit with ambiguity. Sometimes you'll receive little direction from management but the expectation is to use your expertise and creative thinking to identify company needs and areas of opportunity. Every day can be different. Things move quickly, and there's no doubt that there will be constant change to teams/departments/roles/processes as Cargomatic keeps up with its growth.

The people - everyone works hard. It's a startup, so the teams run lean, and I find it very encouraging to see everyone chipping in to help out when help is needed. There are obstacles around every corner, and I enjoy working with the folks on the team to tackle day to day as well as bigger picture issues.

Everyone works so hard here, sometimes there isn't too many opportunities to meet your neighbors. More team building events would be great!

It's a fast-growing company with a technology that has tons of potential. Because they're growing so quickly, there are a lot of opportunities to do different things, learn different areas of the business and anyone can really make an impact and shape the business if they want to. There's a snack-stocked kitchen and catered lunches a couple times a week, too.

With the growth and constant change, things can seem a bit chaotic at times. If you like to just punch a time clock and do your tasks for the day, this may not be the place for you because everyone tends to wear many hats. Many employees work remotely, so it's sometimes hard to understand who does what and where they're located.
