Favortism.

This company seemed like an amazing place to work at after I got referred in. However, once I met management, that all changed. It was clear that I was the least liked employee, even after people were being hired after me. My boss would let some get way away with stuff that others had no chance at. Being around management that doesn't care about you really makes it hard to stay motivated to go into work. The only thing that kept me going back were the residents. However, after being put on call, it has now been 3 months and I have been completely taken off the schedule due to my boss's personal problems with me. I will not be returning to this company nor would I ever recommend anyone work there. The staff (including my boss) would be so rude and inconsiderate towards the residents when that should be their main concern. Sometimes they don't even treat them as people. My boss especially would treat the residents horribly. She would act as if they weren't allowed a chance to speak up and be heard. Many residents have also complained specifically about my boss.

The work environment and fellow employees were awful. They have no respect for their employees. They don't pay enough for the work they expect you to do but they charge the seniors and their families outrageous amounts for living expenses.

Good place to work for starters in caregiving

Residents are fun and nice , days can be very tough sometimes, , time management , planning , good communication skills and patience is a must in order complete the task less stress, , expect the day to be hectic, Which I prefer , makes the day pass by so quick, I like working here , only pay is low. The management is good and approachable .

I stress all the time. Managers are in you all time for crazy issues. It’s not a great place to work. Drama all time. No team player. Pay is horrible. If you mess up in smallest way you don’t get a raise.

My time at Carlton was actually really enjoyable for the most part. Yea it was a dirty job and you don't get paid enough for the work you do. However the community was really nice and most of the people I worked with pulled their weight. The issue was the management, they were all in league with each other and if you stood up for yourself they framed you and got rid of you. Which obviously happened to me.

Decent break times, good food if you chose to order any, PTO could be cashed out.
|
Horrible management, no janitor staff so you have to do the cleaning, which is highly unsanitary, especially since you're supposed to be taking care of elderly people, who get sick easily.

Parking too far.
Managers and Directors have favorites.
Some PCAs do not care at all.
Lunch meals most of the time are late or will not be given at all.
Some PCAs gossip a lot.
If you are new pca you will always be on call and make you cover am pm even noc shift.
In other words, if you have a choice do not work here. Yes you will learn but you can also learn in other facilities.

This company does not care about you as an individual. They see all the employees as just walking bodies and the patients are walking checks. 0/10 The managers do not care about you at all- they just care about getting the shifts covered. Hardest part about leaving is seeing the elderly getting duped by these so called managers who say they care but really don't. Do yourself a favor and don't work here. And definitely don't bring your loved one here.

Overworked and Underpaid

I was a caregiver for the center in Davis, CA. I was overworked to the point where I got injured and 3 years later I'm still disabled from this job. While I LOVED AND ADORED my residents, my coworkers we're hateful, and borderline abusive to the residents.
Management was communicative and friendly, but everyone under management had low morale. Also the caregivers get paid minimum wage while dishwashers get paid $2 over minimum wage. So the pay is completely unfair to those who not only work harder, but are the only reason the facility stays afloat.

Over woked and unfairly staffed

There is miscommunication and a disconnect from management and team members, some favoritism, no staff advocacy and support. Lot of hard work and not enough help.
