Dungeon style work area
|
The accounting dept is in the center of a basement area with poor florescent lighting and a couple of small skylights. The cubicles are small and tall so very claustrophobic. The training was by immersion. The accounting dept was setup on a quantity based performance with no concern for accuracy, problems or follow-up. Just push em through. The manager handed out write-ups daily. Breaks and lunches were scheduled and monitored very closely. Would not recommend working in the accounting dept. here.

Not a great place to work. Office area is a dungeon with 2 skylights. Management is horrid. So many restrictions and micromanaging that you can't even breath.

Family owned company, feels like home-Busy during Summer

The Cartwright Companies was an amazing place for me to work. They obviously want to make money as a company, but they never forget that their employees have a life.
I was given many opportunities to advance my career with great yearly bonuses (amount is dependent on peak season).
Peak season (summertime) is stressful, plain and simple, but if you can prove yourself, work hard, and show up for your team you have a forever job at the Cartwrights. They look for long term employees, but also work with college kids (seasonal) employees.
The company was very flexible as I had to attend numerous funerals, was allowed to leave for my nephews birth, and was always excused when I wasn't feeling well.
I will always speak highly of this company.
Some of the managers were less than friendly, but that comes with the territory of working in a business office. I however had a great boss who always helped us, but kept a very well running team as well.

Hard job, can be satisfying if you like a challenge
|
I am to Cartwright as a seasonal claims adjuster. My manager is great and the job was exciting but very stressful. The workplace culture is relaxed but still maintains an air of professionalism. As a claims adjuster, I worked directly with military service members affected by damage done to the household goods during their PCS moves. You need thick skin to thrive here as the military personnel can be rough.

I enjoyed working for a family owned company and felt treated very well there. While stressful in the peak summer moving season, the rest of the year felt very relaxed and I enjoyed great friendships with my coworkers.
