Environment could be better if management would put the right people managing people which is not the case in some teams. Good professionals left due to lack of capacity to retain them - through good people management and also good salary. I believe that replacing some key people with more suitable ones would be enough to have an amazing company. I thought it was a bit strange, but soon saw for myself that this statement was not unfounded. The high employee turnover (specifically in the CX department) should have been a clear warning sign, in addition to all the negative things I had heard and read. There are a few genuinely nice people working at Catawiki, but overall, there isn't really a growth mindset / initiative / room for new ideas. There is very little flexibility and a lot of pressure / micromanagement with decisions and instructions from management often lacking logic and clarity. The company is extremely hierarchical, and communication is poor. Everything seems to be about making money, and customers are seen as an inconvenience / annoyance and are often spoken about inappropriately. Overall, a very negative working experience. Quality is no longer a deciding factor in accepting lots for sale in its auctions, it's the commission that counts. This is attracting rogue sellers and sloppy acceptance process. Al meer dan drie jaar werkzaam voor dit mooie unieke bedrijf uit Assen. Geen dag is hetzelfde en daarom never a dull moment. Op de klantenservice is het snel schakelen en altijd opzoek zijn naar de beste oplossing voor onze klant. Daarbij denken we vaak out of the box. We luisteren graag naar je ambities en wil je doorgroeien dan hebben we hier mogelijkheden voor. Iedereen is welkom bij Catawiki want niet alleen is ons product uniek maar ook al onze collega's! Catawiki is erg bezig met de bedrijfscultuur en doet er alles aan om het werken voor iedereen zo prettig mogelijk te maken/houden. Er is ook genoeg uitdaging en er zijn goede mogelijkheden om door te groeien wanneer je laat zien dat je dit wilt en kunt. Every week, each tech team prepares a demo session within technology to share what we have been building lately. Then, most of the remaining time is spent over whiteboards, with people, writing specs and code. - Culture fit? The culture is something that changes, and adapts as we go. At catawiki, that culture has been growing without a north star till some months ago. We can see that changing bit by bit with a more well defined strategy to identify values and reward people by applying them into practice. Those values are: "Delight our customer", "Move in Sync", "Take ownership", "Be passionate", and "Be geeky". - The most difficult part of the job? We still manage a certain amount of incidents by ourselves. That time is less time we have to keep improving our product. - The best part of the job? Besides the nice atmosphere and great colleagues, besides the design and coding as we go, for me, discussing about technical problems with a wide range of people, even from different domains inside Catawiki is always something I get a lot of pleasure from. There's so much opportunity that you're sure not to get bored, even if so much has already improved. We're getting rid of the legacy which is tough sometimes yet very much needed. The proposition is very complex and you're dealing with very specific niches which makes it both challenging and fun. Sure there's pressure, but I find the work-life balance really good. No crazy working hours and the working hours are spent with great colleagues. So many opportunities, very interesting phase of the company, you can really contribute individually. Great people to work with.
