No one really tells you anything about working hours. You can work whenever you want and how long you want. The work and result counts. That is typical startup and okay to me but not for the majority. Many of my colleagues complaint about their working hours. In some departments one has to work in shifts.

Salary differences between French and German colleagues is significant. No additional payments. They have just announced bonus payments but again we have no performance measurements.
|
No communication. no clear tasks and responsibilities. No clear reporting lines. Yes, a lot is changing due to many acquisitions but the degree of chaos is just not acceptable for us "normals". Everyone is anxious and driven by uncertainty. Colleagues disappear without any information that they actually have left. Managers cannot really answer questions because they are not informed either. Everything is driven by the management team in the UK.

As I have already said: Only communication top down. Those who leave positive reviews here, are new to the company. Obviously, to the public it looks like a thriving star in the startup environment in Europe but the working conditions and the emotional pressure is toxic. We have respective meetings informing us about the progress of the company but that doesn't save the majority of employees keeping their eyes open on the job market.

The image in the piblic doesn't meet reality within the company. Within the company we have bad image, very frustrated mood throughout the team. Many who don't survive probation periods.

Copy and paste the UK model. Cazoo even tries to sell cars on credit card to consumers in France... We now the french market but no one listened. 2

The european team is heavily suffering from leadership in the UK. We are handled as contractors who were given the job to launch Germany and France. The simple job: copy the UK model. Nobody listens to differences in the consumer market in the EU even though the european team are the experts. UK wants the EU team to share all informations regardless what it but opposite everthing is hidden and decision are made top down. Again, the EU team is just their to copy and paste the UK business model. No impact, no rights, no praise for good work only pressure and critics. To be clear: I work here and I am not a desperate leaver.

As I mentioned on the salary topic, career progression is very slow here. I spend a few years receiving good feedbacks and taps on my back, but never got the promotion itself. I had indeed a salary adjustment, but in the words of my manager "that was just a correction, the promotion will come" and never came.
|
Before you start you need to have an ideal salary in mind because you're going to stick with this salary for a very long time. Cluno and Cazoo had feedback sessions and talks about careers, but I never saw the promotion I was begging for (for a lack of a better word) for several months. And once Cazoo happened, they simply change my position (not a promotion) to something that I would have to start the "hunt for promotion" all over again without asking me.
|
Managers at Cazoo seem only titles. They never have answers. They mistake "having ownership of a project" with "do it all by yourself without any guidance". I approached my manager to ask about goals and next steps, and they never had a clear answer, and this situation last for months. Often they told us to "start something", very vague and it looks to me that they're asking me to do something just to "look busy".<br/><br/>Whenever you manage to engage in some task, some managers acts as a blocker micromanaging you or over-engineering the problem, so only they can solve it. I informed my superiors several times about the situation and lack of proper management, but I only got vague answers and taps on my backs. Despite that, they still show in general meetings lots of slides with fancy and complicated words to solve the problems of management, but so far nothing really happened (since February 2021).

On one hand, they have several meetings and channels to keep everyone informed about results and numbers. On the other hand, when it comes to a more granular approach, how the teams can work, what would be the deliverables the communication is often broken. Few PMs manage to have a very problem-solver approach and really organize things. Quite often you have to figure things out by yourself.
|
Munich office is awesome. Very large, bright, comfortable. There's a big kitchen with good drinks and coffee. The terrasse is the best part of the office.
|

I had a great time with my colleagues from Cluno and a few from Cazoo.
|
|
Out there Cazoo is huge and is growing hyper-fast. Conquering Europe. Inside we only see a company throwing money and people into the problems, with the only goal being GROWTH. Doesn't matter how. You don't feel like being part of something big, I just fell like I'm feeding coal to a giant locomotive together with 3000 people.
|

Cazoo talks a lot about teamwork, but sometimes you can see people who don't want your help just to have all the credits. Isn't explicit, but the way they behave to you, blocking you, making things over-complicated almost like to make you quit. And sometimes this "one-person show" ends up blocking a whole team or project. Sadly in almost one year at cazoo, I have nothing that I'm proud to show.

For the colleagues working in Germany, the feeling is that we're just contractors who need to obey the orders from the UK. They constantly complain that we don't share the way we're working in Germany or "we're hiding here" but they do exactly the same. They hire new people and the new joiners don't know what to do or where to go and we need to "hunt" for pieces of information to help the new colleagues, decisions are made there and we just got informed after is done. Orders come from the top and need to be executed, doesn't matter if they're good or not, quite often those orders ignore the specialists in the area.

Es ist und bleibt ein Start-Up. Bedeutet, dass man mal hin und wieder einpaar extra Meilen Laufen muss. Gerade für den Europa-Launch gab es einiges zu tun, dahingehend aus meiner Sicht völlig in Ordnung etwas mehr zu arbeiten. Dafür sind die Arbeitszeiten auch recht flexibel und man findet grundsätzlich, wenn man will, auch mal die Zeit zum Ausgleich. Wichtig: Keiner zwingt zu Überstunden. Hängt von dem individuellen Anspruch an sich selber ab.
|
Mitarbeiter erhalten Weiterbildungsbudgets und können diese nutzen um sich weiterzubilden. Da sich das Unternehmen noch weiterentwickelt und wächst, wird es sicherlich auch viele neue Stellen geben und Mitarbeiter können, wenn sie denn wollen, auch Karriere machen. Ich sehe aktuell keine Grenzen.
|
Faire aber Startup übliche Gehälter, dafür mit Unternehmensbeteiligung und diversen anderen Benefits.
|
Die Vorgesetzten sind teilweise sehr verschieden. Abteilungsabhängig gibt es unterschiedliche Charaktere mit unterschiedlichen Stärken und Schwächen. Es gibt Führungskräfte mit mehr Führungserfahrung als andere, aber in Summe ist es ein gutes Setup. Sicherlich gibt es bei dem ein oder anderen noch Potential nach oben, aber so ist aus meiner Sicht in jeder Firma.

Gleichberechtigung ist auf allen Ebenen vorhanden. Cazoo setzt sich aus meiner Sicht auch Länderübergreifend dafür ein.
|
Der Austausch mit den Kollegen im Ausland findet logischerweise überwiegend online statt und klappt wirklich hervorragend. Die neue Geschäftsführung legt sehr viel Wert auf Transparenz und führt die Mitarbeiter auf Augenhöhe. Es gibt viele Update Sessions und auch die HR Abteilung hat immer ein offenes Ohr.
|
Es wird wirklich alles bereitgestellt was man zum arbeiten benötigt. Ob eine zusätzliche Lizenz für eine Anwendung oder Hardware die auf die Wünsche der Mitarbeiter abgestimmt wird. An Equipment mangelt es nicht. Auch das Büro in München ist sehr gut ausgestattet in einem sehr modernen Bürokomplex. Kostenlose Getränke, sogar eine Siebträger-Kaffemaschine für die Feinschmecker unter uns.

Bisher ist der Kollegenzusammhalt wirklich toll! Selten so einen starken Zusammenhalt in einer so großen Firma gesehen. Jederzeit respektvoll, auch wenn mal Dinge nicht perfekt laufen.
|
Da die Firma gerade erst frisch gestartet ist, nähert man sich langsam aber sicher an die Themen heran. In UK ist man bei Cazoo schon etwas weiter. Dort werden bereits viele Initiativen umgesetzt.
|
In UK hat das Unternehmen ein hervorragendes Image. In Deutschland ist das Unternehmen noch nicht bekannt. Ich bin sicher, dass sich das bald ändert und Cazoo auch in Deutschland ein hervorragendes Image erlangen wird. Gerade im Gebrauchtwagen-Geschäft wird man hier sicherlich neuen Maßstäbe setzen.

Gerne würde ich hier einpaar mehr Sterne vergeben. Wer bei Cazoo mit an Board ist, hat echt vieles richtig gemacht. Die Aufgaben sind sehr vielfältig und herausfordernd. Es macht wirklich Spaß an den Projekten zu arbeiten und die Firma innerhalb Europas wachsen zu sehen.

Alle Mitarbeiter sind voller Tatendrang und arbeiten crossfunktional und sehr kollegial miteinander. Sowohl der Austausch zwischen den Münchener Kollegen/innen als auch der Austauschen mit den Kollegen/innen in UK und Frankreich ist überdurchschnittlich gut.

Ich kann mich auch hier nicht beschweren. Meine Vorgesetzten - allesamt in UK - sind sehr nett, setzen einen nicht unter Druck und erkennen die Arbeit an.

Man wird auf dem Laufenden gehalten und die Kommunikation zwischen den Kollegen funktioniert.

Da ich im Prinzip nur remote arbeite, sind die Bedingungen natürlich bestens. Ich habe am ersten Arbeitstag die Arbeitsmittel bekommen, die ich brauche, wie nach Wunsch einen Mac oder Windows PC, Bildschirm etc.
|
Ich bin selbst einer der älteren Kollegen, werde aber - glaube ich - nicht anders behandelt als die jüngeren. Alle sind sehr nett und die Zusammenarbeit ist reibungslos.

Leider zu hoch bewertet. Es nicht alles Gold was glänzt.

Aufgrund fehlender Kommunikation und fehlendem Arbeitsmaterial kaum ausführbar.

Als Untertan in einem Hub bekommt man davon nicht viel mit. Außer man braucht etwas wie Arbeitsmaterial. Dann kann man warten und sich mit seinen privaten Gegenständen (wie zB Handy, Auto) über Wasser halten.

Kommunikation im Team ist Top! Kommunikation zwischen Abteilungen ist manchmal schwierig und einige Sachen gehen verloren, aber alle bemühen sich und sind immer für dich da, wenn du was brauchst.

Büro im Werksviertel in der Nähe von Ostbhf. Super schönes Gebäude mit super Dachterrasse, wo man mal in der Sonne arbeiten kann. Technikausstattung ist super - man wird vor seinem 1. Arbeitstag, ob man Mac oder Windows bevorzugt und was für Equipment für HO nötig ist.

Es gibt sehr wenige älteren Kollegen. Alle sind sehr nett zu ihnen, aber man merkt den Altersunterschied in der Zusammenarbeit schon ein bisschen.
|

Unternehmen nimmt an mehreren soz. Organisationen teil und MA bekommen als Belohnung für geleistete soz. Arbeit einen zusätzlichen Urlaubstag.
|

Alle Kollegen sind sehr nett und freundlich. Dazu merkt man, dass MA für ihre Expertise eingestellt sind und nicht, weil Bekannter vom Bekannter und sehr sympathisch. Man fühlt sich willkommen und als wichtiger Teil eines ganzes. Die Arbeit und die Person wird geschätzt.

UK management has a strange management style. For example, German employees are questioned about their German superiors. They are asked how satisfied they are with the superiors, etc.. All this is done in a completely non-transparent way. You also don't know why this is done.
