Generally, it was my dream job
|
Throughout the first 19-20 years, when our founder still had at least some say in his organization, it was a pleasure to work there. On a typical work week, I would go into the office at 8:30 or 9:00 am and get right to work. In the beginning of my employment, I would start opening letters, adding up checks, etc. Later, I would do research, contact prospective members for our organization, write articles and essays, etc. As time went on I would serve as the public relations director. As an editor of our journals, I would solicit writers, reviewers, individuals to be interviewed, etc. Throughout the first 19-20 years, all of my co-workers were fantastic. In the last year or so, I was forced to work with one in another city, and the experience was not pleasant. The hardest part of the job was finding particular kinds of writers for our journal, FREE INQUIRY. The most enjoyable part of the job was the travel. I was able to go to Africa, Europe, Latin America, all over North America, etc.

Freedom to work without micromanagement, decent benefits

In later years, the company was run more like a law firm
