The pay is not great, but the benefit package is good. The reason that it is a tough place to work is the constantly changing direction of the company that is 100% top down. It becomes very frustrating to work a long week and then come in on Monday and the priorities have completely changed. That the priorities have changed is not a big deal. That happens. What is frustrating is that the priority setting is always top down and is a byproduct of lack of vision/inability to make a decision and see it through. So, when a new North star is determined, after exhausting yourself reaching for the previous one, you get kinda fed up. Good benefits. Long hours. Constantly changing priorities. Lack of vision. It seems some people randomly get promoted while others who work much harder don't, and there's no real guideline in the company to determine how people can grow in their career. If you are one of the lucky ones who gets promoted, the higher you grow in the company, the more meetings you're in, so you end up working much longer trying to balance it all and you're still not gaining new skills, only skills from past jobs. HR has too much power and plays favorites but HR also is very broken in this company. The company's HR person often says inappropriate things, reveals other peoples salaries and job status, and overall has a very untrustworthy vibe which makes it difficult to approach or share information. Thought it was okay at first, but as time grew on it was clear that they treat people differently based on a variety of factors. Free food on Friday masks the real issues. People leaving the company left and right, firing contractors despite the fact they are always looking for new employees, hiring new students over people with industry experience, questionable upper management, etc. Food on Friday. Contract Q&A/Assistant to Sound Design Austin, Tx USA Awesome Studio to be at, unless you were a contractor I loved the idea of working there. I loved the game producers and the environment. The pay was horrendous, and you were treated like an outsider if you were not full time. After completing the project, I did a good enough job to have my contract extended another 6 months without a penny in pay increase. I became dissuaded, and was terminated shortly after giving my 2 weeks. I would have given them my soul if they would have just hired me own full time. I was bottom of the barrel anyway, QA bugger. But I had a good attitude, and decent ideas. Most of the time the actual staff was cool and did not really mess with us or show ego. I marked it so low, because if you come in as a contractor, it will change your outlook as opposed to being a staffer. So take this with a grain. The full time staff seemed to like it well enough.
