Interesting place with lots of smart people

Smart and Supportive Engineering team, Monthly days off for mental health, interesting product but held-back by only going after sub-prime Customers. Overall product has good FinTech roots.
|
The CXO is a huge problem with-in the company and how Customer service is managed. Neurotic behavior seems to drive decisions here more than real logic or listening to middle management / individual contributors. The Fake-It-Until-You-Make-It and ill-behavior by the CXO drove me to leave.

Good Pay, some IC team members are great and go the extra mile.

Imagine that scene in Chris Nolan's "Dark Knight" where the Joker breaks a pool cue in half and makes his two minions fight to the death to see who gets the job, but Joker is the CXO, the gangster minions are OMX middle-management and the broken pool cue are individual contributers. Fear rules all here. IC's are thrown under the bus by middle-management as sacrifices to appease the CXO. Values, humanity and humility have no place here. Deer-in-the headlights look from the CEO every time important questions are asked doesn't help either.

Don't throw people under the bus for stopping exposure of customers to fraud because the "right processes" aren't taken. Focus on real work and results, not made-up KPI's that have no real value. Also, middle-management, grow a pair and be real leaders, even if you risk making CXO unhappy. Do you remember what it was like to have a conscience, a soul and ethics? To be a person of substance? Before you sold your soul to the CXO?

The majority of people working at Chime do not understand who Chime's member base is/what they go through, haven't ever lived paycheck to paycheck or needed a tool like SpotMe. The people building the product and writing the code are very disconnected from the realities of the customers they are serving.
