Very powerful mission. Dedicated, talented, enthusiastic staff. Wonderful opportunity to work with top partially sighted or blind colleagues. Work from home or office weekly schedule. Pension plan. Free coffee/tea selection at Head Office.

Very top-heavy culture. A bit of a boys' club. Diversity and Inclusion concepts need to be practised, not just trumpeted. Current CEO doesn't value constructive feedback or innovative ideas from most staff. Low salaries - except for the executives. Annual salary/hiring freezes are frequent. Work-a-day HR department. High staff turnover due to low salaries and lack of advancement opportunities - plus several lifers.

Hours are decent and there is free tea and coffee

-The hours are decent because no one cares.
-Only a handful of favourites ever get promoted.
-Layoffs every two years or so.
-Upper management receives bonuses even on a layoff year.
-There is no process, no structure, no onboarding, you get it.
-Upper management is unqualified for the jobs they do so there is no real guidance.
-Everyone is scared of the CEO and he only surrounds himself with yes men.
-Don't work here, you'll be miserable in 2 mnths like everyone else.

Great mission...and yet still a horrible place to work

The food in the cafeteria was pretty good.
|
- lots of backstabbing and snitching going on to advance people's agendas.
- management simply does not listen to staff
- pay is not at all competitive
- forced into the pension plan - and it was underfunded.....so good luck with that when you retire
- you pay for parking - and then they force you out of the underground spot you've paid for so they can charge people when events are held.
- many people here are simply clueless....and likely wouldn't be able to find work elsewhere.
