Every Codan is very smart but low ego. The company sticks to its values. It's a fun place to work and getting to interact with the product every day is a huge plus for me.

Communication lines are mostly clear but sometimes decisions that are made in senior management aren't clearly communicated to the rest of the org.

1) Respectable working hours 2) Semi decent product that has a chance to get acquired (Not IPO) 3) Great perks

1) You have to really connect with higher level management to have a chance of impacting the company and having job security. 2) If management doesn't agree with recommendations or standard practices with data, they will not budge or help vet out project for prioritization. 3) Heavily SQL and Data Warehouse dependent across teams.

1) Notion is eating up your market because of the lack of intuitive and sexy UI experience and the GTM strategy. 2) Your systems aren't set up for success because you're building against what they're made to do and really Coda isn't unique enough to go against the grain. 3) Consider hiring qualified minorities to diversify top level management. It's something I also felt that had a lack of representation given lawsuits Coda is going through at the moment that I see on LinkedIn.

Cool Product but sales and marketing are a mess
|

- across the company there are great people to work with and anyone is willing to dive in and help no matter the problem - product and eng are some of the best I have collaborated with - product vision is exciting and when you find users that love Coda they LOVE Coda
|
- Anything customer facing (sales, marketing, etc) is the clear weak link. Constant changes, reorgs, layoffs with a clear lack of strategy have worn those teams down. - The vision for the product is exciting but with no focus on what Coda is, who is it for and what problem we are solving makes selling the product extremely difficult. - that leaves Coda in the “nice to have” bucket of software tools and easily can get cut or never approved (seen as only an incremental improvement on existing tools and docs/sheets by many customers) - if you want to grow your career here it likely is not the best place for GTM roles. No real growth opportunities. - sales and marketing leadership is so obvious as not working but no changes have been made in years while lower level people continue to get laid off or constantly shuffled around in reorgs

Pick a lane and a market to focus on and be clear on what the company goal is. Is the goal to be a profitable business and IPO or get as much usage and market share as possible to get acquired by one of the big tech companies. Get the team rowing the same direction and optimize for one thing not 10 things at a time. Take a good hard look at leadership in sales and marketing and make changes fast or will continue to lose good people on those teams
