Location is great and views are pretty. The new office environment is designed to look like a tech start-up. There are some really good people here. The 9/80 work schedule is a good idea in theory.

When you care more about who is at their desk at a certain time than you do about the results that person is getting, your priorities aren't straight. There is a lot of "Do as I say, not as I do," from Sr. Management. Pay might be aligned to job descriptions, but job descriptions don't actually cover what employees are really doing. And raises are non-existent unless you'r sucking up to someone.

You're gripping so tightly to ideas that have no merit that you're losing sight of things that really matter. A corporate culture is about so much more than free snacks, video games, and ping pong. This office is noisy and creates the feeling you're being watched at all times. That level of paranoia creates unhappy employees and high turn-over.

Code recently put into place a 9/80 schedule. This is awesome, we work 9 hours a day Mon-Thur and 8 on Friday and the next Friday we all have off. So we just got 26 extra days off a year, 26 3 days weekend. This is the best.

Great Place to Work - A hidden gem in the industry

Good pay, good coworkers, good management, and a low-stress atmosphere. The work is challenging and hands-on (Symbology scanning technology) - as a Firmware Engineer I was able to work with both SW & HW. The business model is sound, and most importantly the entire company believes in its vision. Code has recently transitioned to Scrum/Agile, and they are committed to making it work for them from top-to-bottom. I was only there a short time, but I loved every minute of it. If not for an unexpected once-in-a-lifetime dream job opportunity, I'd still be at Code (and planning to retire from there in a couple decades).

None, really. What follows is more of an assessment to consider, based on your tastes and personality. It is a small company (100+ employees) - and the overall benefits package reflects that (especially the 401k plan) - but realistically Code is very competitive with companies that are orders of magnitude larger. Located in Draper, just off I-15 the commute through the Salt Lake Valley (or Provo Valley) can be truly nasty, depending on where you live, but such is life for everyone in the area. The atmosphere is very relaxed - almost too relaxed for some folks - and you are definitely expected to be a self-motivator (is that really a con?). Small teams and lots of hats to be worn by one person (if you don't like that sort of thing). Not too much career advancement opportunity (due to company size).

Keep up the commitment to Scrum/Agile - it will do wonderful things for you. Keep looking for ways to expand your footprint across the Symbology tech space. Be vigilant against becoming too laid-back - the wrong employee could really create problems for Code. Overall - great job creating a hidden gem of a workplace in the tech space. I would come back to work for Code at any time.

Neat engineering problems. Good starter job.
Flexible schedule.
Some members of leadership foster creative and forward thinking.
They could dominate the market if not for certain members of leadership.

Much of the senior leadership is unqualified to hold their positions but are kept because they have been with the company a long time but they seem to fire lower level employees without hesitation.
Employees are very unhappy but management does not seem to care, I overheard one of the most senior staff say that "if they don't like it they can leave".
Certain members of management are completely unprofessional, even abusive, others completely lack any semblance of leadership.
Much of the staff is remote, however, they won't allow working from home a few days a week.
If you aren't part of the in-crowd you will never get any recognition.
Questioning the status quo is often seen as a threat.
Pay is abysmal, benefits are garbage for a "technology company", plus they are cheap.
Employees are treated like tools rather than assets.
