great technology and cool office space in the heart of Boston. Maybe members of the team were very new to the industry which made for a lot of ideas and willingness to work.
Team wasn't really able to prioritize business or tech objectives. Lead to constant pivot and endless confusion. They got rid of many of their older, more experienced folks who didn't agree with mgmt decisions.

Extremely reckless management and leadership, frat-like culture, lacking any focus and vision.
The best and only good thing is that there are a few genuinely talented, smart, and friendly people working there.
First, the leadership is abhorrent. Incredibly inexperienced, unwilling to listen, unwilling to communicate, unable to cooperate, and simply in way over their heads. Poor managers often manage with fear and micromanagement and this is a classic case. It really starts and ends there, as everything wrong with this company stems from the (lack of) leadership and management. Furthermore, never have I worked for a company with such a lack of focus and vision. The supposed "advisors" to the company are MIA and vanish if they disagree with the CEO or challenge him, and the investors in the company are disengaged in the worst way, especially for early-stage investors, not at all what's often called "money-plus" or more plainly, smart money, money that brings something else to the table, money with domain expertise. This alone says volumes about the company management and leadership. As for company values, they're non-existent or plucked from something Google, Facebook, or Twitter might have for values. The management is ill equipped to create, let alone describe, a real purpose or mission for the company, and thus values that the company should not just post on a wall but actually embody. So many fundamental problems its almost impossible to describe. The single worst company I've ever worked for.

Best piece of advice would be to hire real managers and be willing to have debates and engage in uncomfortable conversations and be challenged (versus talking the talk), and listen to your staff, focus less on being the smartest guys in the room and more on letting the people you hire be their best, take credit, and elevate the entire game. Your job as leaders is more than a title and a function. So much more. Furthermore, hold regular staff meetings, be transparent, stop talking and start listening, and get out of your own way; recognize your weaknesses and stop trying to cover them up and instead leverage your strengths and hire for your weaknesses but get out of the way. Ultimately if you want to build a real company hire real management.
