A shell of its former self, heading quickly in the wrong direction
|
Conversica was a great place to work for so long. A lot of that has changed in the last year or so, and especially since the new CEO was brought on board.
Conversica's culture has been great, but even that is starting to fall apart, as promises are broken, nerves are frayed, and consistency or direction is hard to find with so many disruptive changes.
The best part about Conversica has always been its people. Everyone below the executive level is kind, helpful to one another, eager to support. For a lot of people at Conversica, their leaders were also a key reason they have stayed with the company for so long. But the new CEO has been one-by-one replacing the executive leadership team with new people, and often for seemingly no reason other than a desire to make change. Experienced, beloved leaders are being replaced by under-experienced individuals with a lack of both experience and personality.
Ultimately, these stark, unnecessary changes will be the CEO's undoing. It is surprising the board has allowed some of these moves, as they are real head-scratchers.

It's like being in an abusive relationship
|
They pay you just enough to get by (but well below industry standard). You have good days due to your co workers but mainly just suffer through convincing customers this is a viable product. Company doesn't care about you as a person.

Toxic work environment

In my time there I realized that management doesn't reward on basis of merit or effort on a project - this seemed to go unnoticed. Managers would often take 2-3 hour lunches, casually take a few days off without notice, and leave their teams empty-handed and without leadership. Yet these were the managers that were promoted, and the individuals who worked hard on their teams were kept in their lower positions because they were the ones actually doing the work. The pay scale was also skewed in such a way that entry-level salesmen were making a higher base salary than I was as a manager who had worked there for 4+ years. If you're a sleazy, manipulative sociopath, this could be a great place for you.

Avoid this place if you have integrity and aspiration
|
This was a shockingly unprofessional company with poor disconnected management. Anything I saw in the company was sub par; low productivity and efficiency, no communication between departments, passive aggressive behavior, no compliance, dishonesty, etc. The worst among them was that nobody cared. It was a showcase of how bad people can be with bad culture. Workers were mostly immature, naive young people with no aspiration and in general unkind and disrespectful to one another. It resulted in high turnover; decent people moved on so quickly and insecure naive people stayed. The product was mediocre at best that made me embarrassed to be part of the company and they are definitely not a "leader in AI development."

The people is what makes Conversica great. I enjoyed going to work every morning to be productive with my co-workers. The hardest part of the job is being consistent and selling to car dealers. I learned a lot while at Conversica and was able to improve and sharpen skills as a salesperson.

Great stepping stone job. Management is great, break rooms are stocked, darts and foosball table are nice. Days are very repetitive so it gets boring really quick. Very cool company that's going places. Definitely recommend!!!

The KC office is amazing. Doesn't matter who you talk to the culture here is very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. Its a throw together training process where you sit and watch, then do..and hope for the best.
Support from others around you is very common as well as company provided happy hours, snack food in the kitchen, weekly catered lunches and breakfasts...great work environment.
