They can contact you out of the blue with a brand new opportunity to go to a new country, meet new colleagues and collaborate in the introduction of new penalogical developments. A typical day would involve opening the conference using interpreters passing over the message and central thrust of the particular project before getting involved in the implementation and being responsible for the quality assurance of the overall programme. Paradoxically, I always learn more about my home working environment by reflecting upon the working environment of others. Management of projects can be quite challenging , especially when there is little notice, but I thrive on this sort of adventure. Co-workers are always generous and kind; possibly due to the type of person who is recruited to perform this type of work. The hardest part of the job is possibly involving policy transfer. Often these are completely new ideas for an existing Criminal Justice System and embedding these ideas and ensuring that they are owned by all stakeholders is possibly the most difficult aspect of the work. Lastly, the most enjoyable part of the job is travelling to new places , meeting new people and exchanging ideas and philosophies.
