In the Cox Phoenix Call Center managers feel entitled to treat ALL employees as bugs they can step on at any time. They yell at employees constantly threating them with firing them and they retaliate silently on whoever takes FMLA. Once an employee takes the very first time FMLA at Cox his/her days there is numbered because he/she enters a non-written list of people who will be harassed and bullyied until they voluntarily quit or until they find any reason to fire them. They will monitor EVERY single of his/her calls from begining to end of shift and each call will be dissected second by second minute by minute. They have the manpower to do that they have a dpt call "Customer Experience Department" with half a dozen 20-year old newbies who blindly obey any order from management without questioning reasons. "You're gonna listen to Joe Doe' calls for the duration of his shift and you'll find EVERYTHING he does wrong from beginning a sentence before the customer finishes his from not offering HBO from not asking how the customer day is going from not thanking the caller for being a loyal customer for X amount of time etc etc". And the answer always is: "Yes Sir" because the poor "Customer Experience Agent" young guy needs to prove his family wrong on his first job or because he like we all need to put food on his table like we all do or simply because that's his job and he was hired to spy on employees and he knows it and no one put a gun on his head to accept that position. If someone at Cox dares to apply for FMLA immediately puts in motion a protocol to get him eventually fired. He'll notice immediately a change on his Supervisor' behavior and mood. The Supervisor needs to tell his Manager and the Manager needs to tell the Call Center Director and the Call Center DIrector needs to tell Human Resources that X employee is applying for FMLA thus getting the whole weight of the company on his shoulders from then on. There is no mercy for those that dare to apply for FMLA at Cox. I worked there for 25 years and i know that. I took FMLA several times but that was at times the company didn't use to retaliate for doing so. Everything changed in the year 2015. The beginning of the change began in 2010 but the change on the unwritten Draconian policy was implemented in 2015. The company changed from a company that cared deeply about their employees to another common and common corporation who doesn't give a f&ck about their employees and just treat them like numbers. I get a monthly check of $1024 for the rest of my life from Cox as pension. But pension benefits were removed for new hires beginning July 1st 2017. Anyone hired since then will never see a dime from Cox even if they work for the company for 25 years and dedicate the best time of his life to that company as i did. Some of you who read this would say Hey you got a pension from them and now you also get SS pension check what else do you want. And i could sound ungrateful but i'm not. I'm realistic. When i left i noticed everything had changed for the worst. Managers meeting were conclaves where all was discussed was how to catch more employees doing anything out of protocol to fire them and increase turnover so newer and younger people could join the company while the older generations of 40-something and 50-something were targeted for removal. I left the company with a pension yes. But i left the company completely disgusted at what had morphed into. I never in my wildest dreams in the year 2001 or 2005 imagined that in lets say the year 2018 or 2021 Cox was going to treat it's employees the way they are treated now. The 2 owners of the company visited the Phoenix Call Center a couple of times. We were all dressed up and our desks tidy up. When they entered thru the main doors we all stand up and nooded our heads as the 2 old ladys were walking by. They were smiling and nodding their heads to us in return. Very elegant ladies surrounded by executives and bodyguards. One of them died in 2007 from cancer and we all got a letter from his son who had taken the position of CEO at the time. He told us in the memo: "My mother passed away peacefully last night in her bedroom in her Hawaii's home. The floor to ceiling window was open for her to hear the ocean' waves as she closed her eyes for the last time. But before she passed grabbing my hand she ask me to take care of the company her father had created and to treat it's employees as her father had done and never forget that the family got to be what it was thanks to the hard work and dedication of all the company' employees. And i want to let you know today that i plan on doing so, and that's my promise to you all". Well that promise lasted another decade. In 2017 pension benefits were removed for new hires. And 401K was removed from new hires also. No more company matching. And the rules were changed vacation time was reduced to the lowest possible sick time was reduced to the lowest allowed by law commissions were reduced on sales spying or "monitoring" on calls were increased 800% to increase employee turnover Supervisors famous for being "lenient" or "good persons" were fired and new "Wall Street" mentality Supervisors were hired to replace them Managers known for being kind to employees were fired (the most famous of them all was Terry Mardis who was publicly humilliated before her exit) and only those Supervisors who were aggresive and loud and yelled at his employees were allowed to stay. The "sweathearts" were let go in bunches and swiftly replaced. Managers like the Pakistani Ali Abasi (who likes to yell at employees during meetings and tell them they are not needed there that they're easily replaceable) were promoted and got ridicously high salary increases.In Hollywood terms is like if you were working for Lauren Bacall and all of a sudden she was replaced with Joan Crawford with her no more wire hangers yellings every day so to speak.
