Bad Reviews are exaggerated

Management were not as awful as some of the laid off reviewers led many to believe. Its understandable - being laid off was a bitter pill to swallow. I found management to be very transparent and honest about where we were and where we had to be in order to stay on coarse. So if you are looking for honest delivery and what I believed were good people then the folks at CL was good by me.

CL just ran out of runway at the same time VC backers took a different stance on how they defined growth. Yes - we may have changed our direction too late, but that doesn't make management bad people or navigating with bad intent - I believe they did what they did with best of intentions. Entitled employees can't take honesty for what it is because they don't like the truth. In this life and in business, you can not rest on what you did yesterday or last quarter or last year..if you do-your lunch will be eaten by someone else. We all know this....we may not like it, but deep down we know it.

I have some mixed feelings
|

In the short time that I was at CreativeLive I feel like I learned the most. It was an incredible place where I was surrounded by other amazing creative people and was given the opportunity to make work that I believed in.
|
Management was very abusive. There were numerous occasions where I was there nights and weekends. The communication was lackluster and would receive notes at 6pm as I'm leaving work for the night.
To make matters worse almost the entire company was laid off and were only given two weeks notice. What is more insulting is to be given a lifetime membership to creativelive.

Almost entire team laid off. Bad Management. Unengaged & Narcissistic CEO

The team that worked at CreativeLive was amazing. Most talented people I have ever worked with. Great Mission. Engaged audience. Great freemium model.

Management is really terrible and sometimes abusive. Very disconnected from the mission. Unsupportive & unengaged HR. CEO who is more interested in building his personal brand than following through on the company mission. Really bad place to work as a woman, despite a marketing effort to say otherwise. 80% of the company was laid off in October with only two-week severance even though some of us had worked here for 8 + years.
