I have been working closely with the Directors and VP for 6 months now, they are always open for suggestions and shows you the importance of your work and part in the company. It's exciting because they welcome new strategies and would often tell you the things they liked and what areas you can still improve on. We operate in a lot of places which means we have wide opportunities for everyone. They hate micromanaging, they will allow you to flourish and work on your own provided that you are following their guidelines. My job is interesting and challenging with never a dull moment because CRS creates customized recreational areas that are unique to each customer location. It is fun to work on a team is passionate about creating playground environments to make children and families happy. The entire team here is dedicated to building really creative recreation areas nationwide. The CRS projects are managed by the headquarters staff in Gold River California but the sales and technical workforce is geographically distributed throughout the USA so our team is large and diverse. CRS is always building a new project somewhere and it is fun to see the finished photos and all the different locations. The customers and vendors are professional people such as school administrators, architects, real estate managers and construction companies and it is especially rewarding to have repeat customers give us more orders and larger responsibilities over time. This past year the company has won the some of the biggest projects ever and even larger projects are currently in development. The project costs and complexities can be substantial so CRS requires employees to be trustworthy, thoughtful and educated about the details of equipment and installation construction so that we give accurate advice, detailed proposals and attentive project management. This means I must be alert and energetic at all times. There are many internal resources to help me with this. CRS is a small but growing company that has been in business for over 45 years so some of the relationships, repeat customers and methods are established but the new growth and expansion is fueled by exceptionally creative and constantly evolving internet marketing that enables us to reach customers in remote and interesting locations. The founder of CRS still works here full time offering me the opportunity to work closely with a successful general construction contractor who shares his expertise. He encourages teamwork and rewards the team when we meet our goals. My team members are educated, smart, collaborative and eager to learn and apply new skills. They teach me shortcuts and novel techniques for organizing and accessing data and I have learned many new skills using state-of-the-art apps for organizing and tracking a myriad of details; such as, shipping logistics, construction estimating, cost accounting, project management, public works procurement and labor requirements- just to mention a few. CRS management assesses individual skills and preferences and assigns work to leverage each employee’s particular interests and aptitudes but everyone here must do a little of everything to support the teamwork required to deliver optimal customer service. Although the office is a pleasant Class A facility the current environment can get a bit crowded. While this does facilitate teamwork and collaboration it can get a bit noisy at times when we are very busy. If you want to work hard and accomplish a lot in a day this is a good fit but if you are looking for routine work and a relaxed pace it is definitely not. Extreme hostile environment, frequent verbal abuse & threats, get paid in peanuts while there are no perks for bringing in more business and contributing to the business. Any minor slump in sales start the threats of being fired or bad recommendations on a daily basis. Hot tempers and inflated egos make working for Creative Recreational Systems Inc. a true nightmare. It was rare that arguments, slammed doors, and slammed phone receivers did not plague the work day. Whether it be owners yelling at each other, at employees, at suppliers, at contractors, or at customers, the overwhelming amount of unprofessionalism and disrespect occurring on a daily basis is almost unbelievable. If that’s not bad enough, you are also incredibly overworked – often working through breaks while juggling the tasks of multiple “departments”. Although you may be hired as an assistant you will soon learn that this business is operating on a skeleton crew, squeezing every last bit of profit out of each employee until they get burnt out and leave (because this is what all employees inevitably do: leave). Seeing as this is a family owned/operated business if this proves impossible I suggest hiring some new blood to ensure that your employees are treated with respect (and avoid being uncomfortably situated in the middle of family squabbles). Other tips: present your business honestly, remain calm when settling disputes of any kind, pay your suppliers/contractors/employees whatever you promised, when you promised, hire more employees to bare the workload and treat/compensate them fairly – after all, they are working to grow YOUR business. Nothing to appreciate.They gave fake promises but nothing worked as per they said: salaries, appraisal, severance amount, closure procedure. Employees benefits were not paid and suppliers were always complaining about payments. Very unprofessional and toxic environment. Literally harassment on employees and more than 10 people left during the last years because of the same kind of issues. Minority group and women discrimination on a daily basis. If you have any doubts please go ahead and contact the last 2 years former employees.
