Management is accessible, compassionate, trustworthy, and responsible; coworkers are friendly, smart, and wonderful teammates; the work is challenging and interesting; the environment is casual and flexible with a common understanding of "get your work done." One of the best companies I have worked for in my twenty plus year career. Like any other small consulting company, employees are asked to flex in different ways to meet business and customer demands. There is also the occasional "I don't know what I will be working on in three months." Being a consultant requires a certain type of attitude and personality that some individuals are just not cut out to be or desire. And well, the company name is kind of weird. Management has finally focused in on what people are good at and have spent a tremendous amount of energy building relationships with partners and clients. There's lot of trust, flexibility, and autonomy for employees - do the right thing and deliver the work successfully in your own way. For those who are adaptable and driven, Critigen is a great place to work and a leader in the industry. This is indicative by the number of former employees who have returned to Critigen after stints at other companies because they recognize the values of working for the company and its leadership in the industry. Still lots of negativity from bitter former employees who felt entitled and were not adaptable. The GIS industry is rapidly changing and the company culture has evolved to meet the demands of the market. Those who couldn't evolve, were not driven, or had poor people skills were left behind. New ownership and executive team have made the company extremely ethical and caring about family and work-life balance while still working really hard for success. Critigen has a couple of very large anchor accounts that are long-term and provide stability. Critigen also released a product at the end of 2017 that has demonstrated profitability and sales traction in 2017 that provides recurring revenue and sales advantages. This is supporting consulting work more than it's replacing consulting work. Some legacy resources - website, sales material, etc - are still trying to catch up with the new culture and energy in the company and seem to be making sales harder.
