Management has no interest in their employees outside of favorites, Human Resources is a joke, operations are lack luster, and they have zero interest in developing you or giving support. This is company wide. Nobody in upper management cares to learn your name, processes are never improved, benefits are terrible, & there is zero training for any positions. There is no room to move up, & you will not be appreciated for the work you do for the company. Easy, not much over site since you work alone or possibly with 1 other associate in your department. Nice 4 x 10 hour work nights. No consistency from management. As long as you sell you can get away with skirting the policy line. Favoritism. Overnight people get used (given additional work and no compensation) and forgotten ( parties and recognition happen in the day when you should be sleeping). No chance of pay raise or upward movement/advancement. The cleaner was using harmful cleaning chemicals in the RVs dangerously without diluting them or mixing them properly. It was hard to breathe inside the RVs after he cleaned them. My coworker would also drain the black water tanks with bare hands and not wash them afterwards, then go inside to use the computer. The room where they washed the kitchen items was filthy. Bare floorboards and dust gathering on everything as there were just open shelves for the items. The dishwasher had dirty old utensils inside with mold on them. I consider Cruise America to be a fantastic employer for two situations. If you need to gain experience in Human Resources, Accounting, or Sales, this may be a great opportunity to challenge yourself, learn, and put in the time to get a professional position. If you are exceptional, the executives may notice you and find a more permanent role so that you stay. 2. Cultures throughout Cruise America varied between departments. Many were fantastic, including the departments within my area. Difficult positions such as Customer Service and particularly Reservations had far more problems maintaining a healthy balance. This was difficult to address and may have needed a significant adjustment in culture, management style, and/or personnel. Considering Reservations generates the vast majority of revenue, they deserved better treatment considering the bullying, severe lack of consistent scheduling, and extreme pressure designed to break the new candidate. 3. The present wages will not attract the level of talent needed to further grow the company post-Covid-19. High overhead, seasonality, and extreme pressure placed on Reservations Agents will be a main point of concern until change is made. Cruise America would benefit from distributing wealth within the company more appropriately. At minimum, a company needs to pay market rate and pay more if they want better. However, there were times they impressed me and other times there was a disconnect. Overall, they were kind and showed that they did care about the success of the company. 6. Cruise America can fantastic employer for two common situations. If you need to gain experience in Human Resources, Accounting, or Sales, this may be a great opportunity. However, growth is naturally limited as the long-time employees, managers, and executives stand to receive a large portion for their retirement from early contributions to the relatively young ESOP program. They are naturally inclined to retain their position as long as possible. The indirect effect of this has naturally prevented career growth due to the cost of leaving the company after being vested in the ESOP. Wages, while in a few cases were competitive, are now staggeringly far below the market rate and I know their best employees are actively being poached by companies that have been offered a future to directly impact success rather than participate and primarily be along for the ride. While they can't just make up constant new positions, they need to instead use the extra revenue to pay employees well, like Costco. The ESOP is great in theory but is far more beneficial for those who were part of the company prior to when it was introduced. 4. I consider Cruise America to be a fantastic employer for two situations. If you need to gain experience in Human Resources, Accounting, or Sales, this may be a great opportunity to challenge yourself, learn, and put in the time to get a professional position.
