I had started with one of the founding companies before it became Ctrlshift, so it was my time to go and let the new guard come in to make it better. The culture at ctrlshift was extremely positive. There was a short period where the wrong people were hired, but natural attrition happens, and those with the right attitude and mindset stay on. The variety of clients they work with grant an employee access to different industries, and their platform knowledge coupled with hands on access give a breadth and depth unknown to many media buying solution companies out there. I refuse to call them an agency because that is not what they were - or still are.

The brief period where wrong people were hired to lead markets was probably the only blip in the company that lead it to a temporary state of...atrophy. However, new, and relevant leadership were brought in (or maybe natural attrition happened) and I believe this has helped turn the company around and realign it back to its original culture of the early startup days. There was also an identity crisis (tech or service or software as a service) of the company at one point, but this may have been fixed with the recent changes in the lines of business.

The senior leadership needs to make sure they are seen by employees - this would at least give a sense of accessibility to the founders and also a sense of camaraderie. Change your approach in hiring; don't hire just to fill a role - find individuals that can create passion and are naturally curious, to drive innovation for the business.

Flexible timings, work from home option, freedom to experiment(I.e. Freedom to learn from failures), no one micro manages you, colleagues are very helpful and friendly, excellent team bonding activities. I loved the flat hierarchy concept which is an essential things in every modern company. The responsibilities given to you makes the learning curve very steep and gives you some much more confidence. Having fun and interacting with others is encouraged, which develops your soft skills as well.

Not the most cutting edge work. The tech team is very small and definitely needs more attention. The office location is not the most convenient, but better than working in the east or north of Singapore.

Invest more in the engineering and data science team. It's a tech company and more emphasis needs to be laid on tech and on acquiring more data. Since the engineering team is very small, pace of development will be naturally slow but things can be improved. Invite new ideas from the domain experts and start experimenting and prototyping.

CtrlShift is a start-up company where you can deep dive into the ad tech industry. From someone like myself who came from creative agencies, CtrlShift was like a breath of fresh air even though it still revolves around the advertising industry. Everything you learn in this company will give lift in your career path. Everyone that I know who were from this company, ended up in great places such as Facebook, Spotify, department head in big media agencies etc. Knowledge aside, in every startup environment, employees are required to take ownership in their projects, in fact perform tasks beyond their job scopes. CtrlShift creates opportunities for their people to learn, to lead, in which have shaped most of their employees to be better.
In CtrlShift, we were all like a family. The motto is where we work hard and play hard together. The management's doors are always open for their people, you won't even feel like there's a hierarchy. I have personally have made some great friends and have experienced great mentorships.
As for salary/company benefits, CtrlShift's package range is based on Malaysia's ad industry standard which is alright as it does not short-change the employees. They still follow according to the industry benchmark.

Because of the startup nature, things tend to be a bit disorganised. Therefore if you're looking for an organization that's structured like those big corporate companies then this may not be the place for you. However, I believe in every company, there are its own internal politics and operational issues, it is both management and employees' tasks to work together in shaping the company.

Very big on learning and training. They invest a lot in training their people. Half of the employees were not from programmatic/digital marketing backgrounds but have grown to be experts in the field. Also amazingly passionate people that have become family!
