Overall friendly people. I was at Culture Amp for a few years. When I joined the company, we were in hyper growth, we were super innovative and very employee centric. By the time I left... hiring was a mess, long standing leadership were sticks in the mud and HR and leadership weaponized the values against you. Unfortunately, unlike prior years, promotions are cherry picked, leadership is incredibly biased and HR teams are only there to drive what leaders want, instead of actually supporting and listening to employees overall. Which is ironic, since the company product is all about employee engagement and feedback... or so they preach, but do not actually do internally. Coupled with this, promotions and pay raises are only given to a select few who are the "personal favorites", instead of to the folks who are actually driving results. The political games that are played internally are what is driving the company to not succeed and leading to a massive amount of turn over as well. Which will continue if things do not change. While most managers excel, those beyond the director level often lack the experience of scaling to a 1000-employee company, having joined when the company was much smaller. The leadership and culture, the AM leaders are particularly problematic. They tend to use fear tactics and brushes off any discontent by telling people either accept it or leave. Working there becomes quite miserable. Their approach to berating individuals for failing to meet their targets is absurd, particularly considering they are the cause behind the dwindling success in hitting those numbers. It's doubtful they have even approached their own targets in quite some time. The toxic culture they created is evident from our poor engagement results, which is disappointing considering we're supposed to be leading by example as "customer zero." Negotiate hard when you start, see if you can push for the next salary bracket. Ask what the brackets are, you probably won’t get much more until you level up. Good place to learn for a bit as an engineer and leave for higher salary - lack of salary / equity is the main con.
