A good life-work balance with no overtime work. The office is nice and clean and supplies all that you need: water, fruit, breakfast cereals and milk. Home-office once a week. The latest PHP & Symfony versions. Free FitX subscription next to the office. A lot of sycophancy, brown-nosing and showing-off instead of genuine success as a result of competent work. This situation is encouraged and exacerbated by useless people in the company who are not capable of successfully fulfilling their roles. Unproductive work processes (endless discussions and meetings instead of decisions, action and progression). Poor communication between departments. Unqualified and incompetent team-leaders. No technical vision, no standard for the quality of code and a lack of new technologies. Substantial resistance in the company to any proposed improvement. An unhealthy work environment. Fruits and snacks. Not bad backend code in general. Education budget. The atmosphere in the company. Not clear goals and aims overall. C-level some times looked a bit lost on what they are doing. C-level is not participating in decisions and rejecting a lot of good ideas, not interested in improvements overall. A chain of some wrong and weird decisions was made for quite a long period in the past so this made a situation much worse and as a result, a lot of good people left. Some decisions related to the team were silently accepted without asking the opinion of the teammates. Overall the team spirit has dropped down very significantly. To summarise: - No clear growth strategy and no one listens to your ideas. - No opportunity to choose the hardware you like - HR team not really helpful - Technical improvements became very small (e.g. upgrade backend version, upgrade lib version, etc.) and nothing really interesting in terms of architecture and new technologies - Not the place where you can grow or promote your ideas. They give gym membership in FitX but not everyone wants to go to this particular gym next to their office. BVG ticket monthly allowance would be a better option. Some people working there are really nice. First and foremost their salaries are ridiculously LOW. As a Junior you won't get more than a minimum salary in Germany. The senior position is not giving you much more. Secondly, the HR department is one big mistake. They do nothing and aren't helpful at all. C- level management is expecting results while they have no marketing strategy on different markets (only Germany and France). If they have, it's not visible at all. Forget if you have any ideas, no one is going to accept them. If you really have no other option and you need this job, then take it. In the meantime, look for other possibilities and leave as soon as possible. They are making some changes in the company, but as far as I'm aware people don't like them. Also, if you think in a new office you will find AC, forget about it. There's a lot going on at the moment. The company tries really hard to grow at any cost. The overall atmosphere and trust suffered a lot due to a lot of changes and decisions that were made. The company tries to become more professional but the extremely low salaries are not adapted.
