Not-for- profit organization uses this status as "opportunity" to pay staff a non-living wage. Workload and responsibilities FAR outweigh compensation.
There are little opportunities in your own job to work towards a higher pay rate - though it is offered verbally though HR.
Support for employees: job training, internal procedures and protocol, HR assistance are poorly lacking.

Pay your employees a living wage. Consider raises to employees who have excellent, consistent yearly reviews with longevity. Those employees who have weathered administration changes, shifts in the economy, and have supported the College through thick and thin are worthy of being able to care for their families on a decent rate of pay.
The President and Dean of the College might consider treating their employees as human beings - with human feelings and families. Managing with fear and threats is not a progressive business model.

departments hire/promote their friends vs. qualified people for positions. No one to turn to for assistance - always excuses and mgmt defending actions. staff very frustrated at work load - very disorganized. If you disagree with something you are marked. Too many Chiefs and unqualified directors

Some Issues with Cheating
|
|
Most of the people who work at Daemen College appear to enjoy working there. However, there are issues.
|
Many students feel entitled. When caught cheating, they bypass the instructor and go to administrators to complain, and to justify their cheating.
Military veteran students have complained that they gave been singled out by ultra-liberal instructors as examples of "what is wrong." If an instructor treated a person of color or handicapped person this way, they would be fired. But treating a veteran this way doesn't appear to be a problem.

Being a student comes first

As a student at Daemen College, I found it fairly easy to have a nice school/work life balance. My hours were based around my classes and study time.
|
A lot of events are on Saturday's, but there are usually only 1-2 Saturday events per month.
