The remaining employees are incredibly talented and smart. One free latte a day (from a legit coffee shop). There's a reason all of these reviews say almost the exact same thing (and BTW every positive review has been left by either a family member of the CEO or someone who only worked here a few months). Dakno is a toxic work environment. The CEO is a narcissist with 0 leadership skills who doesn't care about his employees. He's concerned with looking like a marketing expert to impress the young fresh-out-of-college millennials he hires and his few remaining clients. His MO is hiring young college graduates (mostly female) with no experience and then exploiting them, overworking them, and paying them as little as possible. Think 30-35k if you're lucky. Raises are pretty much nonexistent, and you have to badger him relentlessly to make it happen. Management (aside from CEO) has no power and cannot get anything done on time—it isn’t their fault though. Often, employees are unceremoniously fired for no reason, and Management is incapable of communicating with employees so everyone will live in fear for a few months that they’ll be next. Additionally, you’re not just dealing with Dakno’s poor leadership, when you work here you’ll be under the RiverWild umbrella as well (the “umbrella company”). This culture is just as toxic as Dakno’s. If you’re not a straight white Christian, forget it. You will not feel good working here. NO ONE in any of the companies, including Dakno, is EVER on time to meetings (or anything for that matter). You will constantly feel disrespected and taken advantage of. “HR” pretends to care, then blows you off when you request a meeting. (In quotations because it’s like 2 people who also have a lot of other jobs on the side). STAY AWAY. I strongly feel as though Dakno was the perfect place for me to grow, discover, and be empowered to step into the strengths that I have as a young professional. The experience I gained as a Marketing specialist came from direct training from the CEO and marketing manager, which I felt was one of the greatest pros of the job. I learned an incredible amount from the team atmosphere, and felt as though I grew in expertise in my field while working there. Not to mention, the team was incredible. The small size allowed for frequent creative meetings which I often found pushed me deeper into recognizing my potential. I’m very appreciative of the training I received, and the encouraging environment I got to walk into every day. The kind of culture the CEO is building at Dakno made me want to be better in every way. In any job there will be cons. I believe there will always be overwhelming days and tough work loads to face as a growing professional- and my time at Dakno definitely had a few. But the tight-knit team atmosphere built me up on those days, and the fruit I saw from my clients benefiting from our services made the hard days worth it for me. I will say it’s not for everyone. I think one can easily step into a place like Dakno and feel overwhelmed by the high standard of excellence that other employees are living into, but I also think some will step into it and grow tremendously to contribute to that standard of excellence. The pros are limited and do not outweigh the cons but the people I worked with were great, the casual dress code, and free coffee were the best ones for me. This is a small company that constantly changes its structure every 6 months so “growth” is non-existent unless you want to measure growth by the unbearable work loads and mental breakdowns. So unless your job title gets changed because the CEO has another “great idea”, the level you’re hired in at is the level you stay. Oh and all of this is without a pay raise, unless you count a $2k yearly bump - which is considered generous in their eyes. While we’re talking about pay, be prepared to make way less than industry average (way, way less). Turnover is horrendous. You’ve already read that in every review on this site. They can’t keep the good people they hire because they treat them like a number on an expense report. And let’s face it, it isn’t a very big number because we already know they’re getting paid next to nothing. Oh and if you do plan on leaving, get prepared for an awkward time after you put in your notice. Not a single person will speak to you, no matter how much you offer to help. Lastly, positive feedback and appreciation are non-existent. It takes very little to tell someone they're doing a good job. Destroying great people’s mental health, making them feel like failures, giving them empty promises, and manipulating beyond belief. Overall it’s a good atmosphere for recent grads or entry level who are looking for a stepping stone to a real job. There’s really high turnover because of poor management and leadership, low salaries, difficult clients, I was stressed all the time. I put in a lot of hours with little reward and got paid very little. The amount of knowledge to be learned is huge. The people who work here are great. Plus, there are good strides being made in moving the company towards a structured one with departments and management more defined than in the past. You won't be micromanaged and you'll have fun in an amazing space. Is this job perfect? Probably not, but is it a good, solid gig? Yes, absolutely. I learned a lot being there and really enjoyed the free snacks. Although I didn't have enough money to buy enough groceries for my family, at least I had a few snacks I could take home with me. The employees are AMAZING, except those who've been there over 5 years. I can truly say that I gained the most meaningful professional relationships. *deep sigh* Ok, aside from the high amount of disrespectful clientele, there is absolutely no room for consequential growth. Titles change as frequent as you wash your dishes. Sincerely, I think the CEO has a little ounce of care...the rest of the ounces are for himself and his family. All of the clients only want to speak with him and of course he's not at the office often enough to make it to any calls. The clients do not trust their project manager and it makes it harder when they take out their frustrations they have with the CEO out on us. You know how you're in a relationship and you think you can help make your counterpart a better person but you quickly realize they don't want to make themselves better? Yea, that's basically how I felt. If I were you, I would try it out for a little bit, but be aware, you're never going to have a proper training. The CEO is selfish and unreliable. He only cares about two things: money and himself. 2. The Clients are miserable to work with. 3. The Pay is insufficient and below industry average. 4. The Benefits are lacking; no health insurance. 5. The Workload is unmanageable and the company is constantly under-staffed - See #9. 6. The Stress is overwhelming. 7. The Leadership is non-existent, everyone has to fight for attention from the CEO. 8. The Training is sink or swim. There’s no formalized training and coworkers are overworked so you have to learn on your own. 9. The Turnover is frequent due to #1-8. Most people only make it about a year. 10. Great people to work with. Lots of opportunity to pick up good marketing knowledge from peers and CEO. Overworked. Underpaid. No benefits. Little to no training. Will be thrown into work asap and when you slip up you will be thrown under the bus at first opportunity. Agents are their own kind of people. Little to no appreciation. Most all they do is yell and complain til they get their way. CEO is smart but is in control of everything.
