They care about their employees and try to take care of them. Sometimes the turnover rate is high, while other times people keep their positions for years. private:dallasbaptistuniversity https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=128942 Dec 30th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Dallas Baptist University Student Worker Dallas, TX Grounds Crew Fun work, met some amazing coworkers and supervisors who became my friends, lots of laughs, being off on weekends and some holidays, lots of autonomy on Creek Crew and Landscaping crew, convenient location next to classes, not a long commute with little traffic, and a safe and Christian environment with students and staff who show God’s love Grounds Crew: The climate is brutal in the summer and winter. Some work is very physically demanding and tedious, esp. “projects.” They give too much busywork sometimes. Some coworkers were rude, fault-finding, obnoxious, cocky. In my last year at Grounds, some supervisors were unprofessional, micromanaged too much and one of the head honchos went behind the Landscaping Director’s back to make an unjust rule that part-timers had to make up every hour they missed, even if they are sick, but fortunately, those problems went away when I moved to the Landscaping Crew. Dallas Baptist University (DBU): First and foremost, the pay is way too low for part-timers, and they get no benefits. There is rampant favoritism and nepotism in hiring, esp. with full time positions and promotions. Also, DBU’s culture and admin is too legalistic, uptight, conservative, rigid, and cling to old-fashioned views (i.e. drinking is a sin). Admin also is too uptight about appearance. Some processes are antiquated, bureaucratic, and cumbersome (i.e. paper job applications), and you can expect to go through 2-4 interviews for just a low-paying part-time office job (ridiculous!). Finally, some students and staff are self-righteous, snobby fakes, and holy rollers. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 3.0 5.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 128942 Open Pay student workers more (at least $12 per hour to start) and give more raises. Stop hiring based on looks and favoritism, but hire and promote based on hard work, qualifications, and good qualities. Give part-time workers 25-50% tuition remission and paid holidays. Admin, relax your uptight, legalistic, too conservative views, and hear our opposing views. Part-time student workers should only have to go through 1 job interview. Cut out all the unnecessary red tape and cumbersome, antiquated processes.
