David Lloyd is quite possibly the worst place I have ever worked (if you are non-management)
•Hours are long and you will often work overtime
•Salary is minimum wage unless you hit commission.
•If you take time off, it won't be considered into your monthly target therefore you will find yourself avoiding taking time off.
•Comission is only given if you hit a high target which is defined by your manager. If you miss target by even 1 membership, you will earn no commission that month.
•David lloyd is very cliquey.
•Your whole commission is halved if you do not book new members into a 'free' start up at session. Even if they do not attend the start up (which most people don't want to do) you must then call them up multiple times to get them re booked, you will do this until they ask you to stop.
•They use old fashioned sales tactics.
•Lunch breaks are frowned upon or taken in the sales office.
•Say goodbye to a social life because you will be on shift work, usually starting early or finishing late, you will often find late shift followed up with early shift the next day.
•Promotions are rarely given to those who work hard, you are more likely to recieve a promotion if you are liked by management

The whole ethos of David Lloyd needs to change. Rather than focusing on new members, focus on membership satisfaction.
Don't make it feel like you are trying to avoid paying sales consultants commission anyway possible.

People are prejudiced against external hires, toxic work environment, given unrealistic time frames to complete large tasks (2 days to complete at least 2 weeks worth of catch ups), working a late until past 11pm only to be back in club before 5:30am the next day. I chose to join DLC for a better work/life balance and ended up more stressed and more tired than in my previous 70 hour a week role.

lots of responsibility for role wanted me to be plant room trained, first aid trained. If you had other qualifications such as Lifeguard they would take you from your own role to cover pool so you had less time to get your own work done

A membership (that I was mostly too exhausted to use and with classes I couldn't book into). Some lovely (but demoralised) staff members, and some very nice members.

Terrible pay. Staff feeling exploited and undervalued, important feedback ignored, an often loud and dirty work environment, staff names and identity not even learned by admin after several months of being there, highly regarded skills severely unappreciated. The emphasis is always on how the employees can do better and never on how DL can do better by them. Worst thing is WAGES not increasing, despite cost of living and membership fees going up. Does not pay anywhere near enough to exist on. Minimal recognition of good hard work, qualifications, advanced education and a highly regarded skillset. Very disheartening. No incentive to do better. Company expects a lot, but pays a little. The expectations versus the pay feels exploitative and demoralising. Wouldn't recommend to anyone over 18 or who no longer lives at home, as this definitely doesn't not pay enough to live on. Have rarely felt so low in any job.

Take better care of your staff. Listen to them and reward their hard work through PAYING them fairly. Please do not palm them off and patronise them with menial 'rewards'/ dangling unachievable proverbial carrots. For a health club you really need to take better care of your staff's mental health and wellbeing.
