Fun place to work, but stressful due to poor management
|
First of all, the engineers and developers that I worked with on a daily basis were spectacular. Great flow of information and interaction, that anyone would need, to get the job done. Beyond that issue would start to creep in.
The immediate team was great, but management was unclear and obtuse regarding goals for both the company and the engineering unit. The lack of focus lead to a lot of flailing and stress as it was unclear what technology path we were taking.
Most of the time was spent fighting fires, being re-active as opposed to being pro-active. This lead to the unit being a little more insular, less team focused, and more task focused. Surprisingly the team got along great, but work-flow suffered due to poor management.

The best work environment I have ever had
|
One of the best jobs I've ever had. I base every job since on my time at Deem. Happiest people, best manager, and epitome of a startup. I learned so much and was given autonomy and ownership over my projects. Couldn't have asked for more and unfortunately didn't know what I had until I was let go from budgetary constraints. At least now I know what I do want in a work environment!

Things have changed
|
Have a lot of opportunities to learn as there is no bench strength. The most enjoyable part of the job is that there is no micro management involved unless we are bad.

Nice people, poor leadership

People are pretty nice at Deem, but poor management makes it a bad place to spend your career. Good for an entry-level employee looking to sharpen skill set and move on. Not a good place to try and build a long-term career unless you enjoy management that is driven by favoritism & emotions. High turnover.
