The Vattenfall Solar Team is a non-profit prestige project from Delft University of Technology. Its aim is winning the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, a 3000 km race straight through the hot desert of Australia, purely using solar energy. The vision is to inspire the world with high-end technology and superefficient use of sustainable energy.
The Vattenfall Solar Team has won the World Solar Challenge seven times since 2001, with its Nuna1, Nuna2, Nuna3, Nuna4, Nuna7, Nuna8 and Nuna9. Nuna5 and Nuna6 placed second.
Since 2016 a new team of enthusiastic students are set out to race in South Africa, the Sasol Solar Challenge. This team does not build a new car, but is improving Nuna, which is used the year before at the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, even further for the challenging conditions in South Africa. In September 2018 we won the Sasol Solar Challenge for the third time in a row.
