Quickly showed my work ethic and abilities and became the lead BOP mechanic and painter. Then began traveling to land based and offshore rigs to perform repairs, load testing, or certifications on the Blow out preventer hoist systems. Then was overseeing the air tugger/winch shop as well. It seemed the more I could do the more they would continually add on to my load. All in all the pay in about average for the skill required to do work. Not great by any means but this was a great stepping stone for me and I left with many more skills than I began with. Lucky if you get 40 hours. Management will not offer advancement. $10 an hour, only reason I stayed was it was extremely close to where I lived and saved gas. I was there.
