private:denverbotanicgardens https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=266858 Mar 6th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Denver Botanic Gardens Denver, CO For a place so full of life, my soul felt dead here The company invests in their people through their benefit programs. I learned a lot about benefits in general during my time there. The benefits were extremely well-priced for individuals and families. The Gardens themselves are a nice perk. It was interesting to see the seasons change and keep up with everything that was happening plant-wise. The pay was better than other similarly-sized non-profits. Annual raises/bonuses were average. Employees are provided with an RTD Eco-Pass! The number of paid holidays offered is quite low (6?). It was a challenge to take advantage of the paid holidays since the Gardens are open in some capacity 364 days a year. Thanksgiving is the only full-facility all-day closure. This wasn’t a huge surprise, but if you’re considering working here you should ask what holidays look like for your team/department. The Gardens are undergoing a number of construction projects. The growth and progress is/was exciting, but it was a challenge to work in those conditions. Excessive noise, dust, fumes, strange people wandering through your work space, no working HVAC in the winter months, etc. This will eventually end, but I didn’t feel that it was handled well and I was often concerned for the wellbeing of my team. I didn’t feel welcomed by this organization. The people I was working with and the people I was managing acted like I wasn’t supposed to be there and it was a miserable, uncomfortable, almost hostile situation. There was absolutely no training/onboarding and any time I tried to figure things out on my own and ask for help, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. It kind of seemed like I was set up to fail. I tried to ask my supervisors what I had walked into (“Did internal candidates apply for this job and maybe they’re upset that an outsider was hired?”) and they claimed that there wasn’t a problem. They were either ignorant to how the team felt or they weren’t being honest with me. The CRM situation at the Gardens is a disaster. Two databases are being used redundantly which leads to an insane amount of extra work and errors in the data. The company doesn’t conduct exit interviews. My outboarding was handled just as poorly as the onboarding and I didn’t feel that there was any effort made in transitioning my job/duties to others on the team. Giving two weeks’ notice felt pretty pointless. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 1.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 5.0 2.0 266858 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 1.0 Jan 24th, 2021 08:56PM Jan 24th, 2021 08:56PM Denver Botanic Gardens
