I like the culture and transparency here. I came in DG India along with initial members, and we together built the team, culture here. I still remember the initial training days and first release, almost 5 years back. There is no doubt that DG is best in DLP / security technology stack and customers love the engineering we do.
And not that I never looked outside; I worked here for 3 years, went out to another organization and now am back again, after more than a year. So nearly balanced and neutral perspective, on what I have personally observed.
Given that most of the management team in India were engineers themselves, few years back; there is really not much subjectivity / management overheads. Almost everyone is an engineer and has got code attributed to their name; I just love this fact!!!!

Not much really; office facility was a long pending task and now that new facility is Western Dallas, Raidurg building is operational; this too has been taken care of.

I have been with DG India almost from beginning and it has been an incredible journey. Some of the great learnings I am having here is a deep exposure to Mac OS, and there are opportunities in Linux & Windows kernel work too. So you truly get cross-platform exposure, based on interest areas.
Also, the tech-stack and work items vary from core kernel modules up-to browser engines , and this is really fulfilling. For anyone having an interest in software security, this is probably a best place to work for!!!!
Apart from core technology, in general the top executive team is committed towards modernisation of tools, environment and there is a growing list of new tools added as corporate standards.

Not much really, though I personally feel that company should adopt a formal innovation / patent culture, which is so easy to achieve, given the technology we are working on. If we would have given more focus on it (as I have seen in my previous companies), we could have owned many patents by now.

1.Poorly written legacy code of 15 years old . you will end up maintaining the code adding the enhancement over it based on OS or feature updates .
2.Goals and Responsibilities are not clearly defined and not conveyed at correct time . This should happen when managers sets the goals at beginning of appraisal year or at quarterly but definitely not the at the end of appraisal .
3.Performance reviews and appraisals are one sided .no software company in this world has this kind of appraisals
4. Directors at Hyd bullies the team members and even HR in front of others . Please make a note only insecure and weak leadership does that.

1. Hiring is not transparent . There is no process . Wasting lot of developers time in the name of interviews and at the end depends on Directors mood .
2. Two development team Directors merely act and behave at Manager or Junior Manager level . Either they are insecure about their positions or some-other reasons they don't empower the engineers .
3. Witch-hunt by directors if developers differ with their opinion .
3.No documentation . Very big headache for new joiners . I have noticed this in my last 4 years in Hyderabad .
4.Hyd All hands meetings are funny .
5.Product owners acts as proxy for what dev directors wants . No freedom to take decisions .

Joined Digital Guardian recently as a PO. Love the culture here. Work-life balance is good. I have previously worked in MNCs and multiple startups. The culture, benefits, and compensation are similar to the bigger MNCs. Health Insurance is gold. The best part is you get a lot of exposure as you interact with the leadership team regularly. You get to learn about the company roadmap and strategy etc. Also, the leadership team learns about what employees want. One of the outcomes - DG was one of the first companies in the industry to provide compensation for internet charges and office-chair set up at home to facilitate WFH in the covid era. DG home-delivered laptops to people who joined recently so that employees do not have to travel and risk their health.

2. I would like everyone think about the product, the market and success of the product. This mindset is missing. It still has the old mindset, People just think about their work, their team etc.
3. The PO position, roles and responsibility and growth path is not clear.
