Management was not inspiring. There was no motivating overriding vision during my time there, beyond getting the company positioned to be acquired. Biggest challenge was getting everyone rowing the boat in the same direction, toward a greater ambitious goal. Multiple attempts at pharma key account mangement failed due to that. Learned a lot of new stuff and improved lot of skills. But there is no work recognition or compensation. The new employees are not motivated and work is not evenly distributed among the group. People who work hard get hit with more work and the lazy ones dont get any much work. Culture is really about constantly putting out fires and defending yourself from false accusations (people will blame you for projects that you've never even heard of). Management will always look to pass blame downhill. The job itself isn't hard, which is why they don't pay you that much. Most people there are there because it pays the bills, but they are looking to get out. It's the same paltry salary increase every year, no matter how profitable the company is for that year. It is a small Biotechnology company and has basic infrastructure with an opportunity to learn manufacturing of kits and shipping them and working with mammalian cell culture and drug dose response. A typical work day involved a brief 10 min meeting with the group manager and then we went ahead with the experiments planned from the previous day. The day ended with readouts of assay plates and data analysis. Some experiments involved a team effort of co-workers which was co-ordinated and executed. We had social get- togethers in the company for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
