Free snacks & coffee (thanks, BBH). Few projects are really interesting and challenging - most are subpar and essentially production work. Exciting projects are not fairly distributed and often go to the same few people (this is across producers, designers, and developers). Owner does not trust his team and makes that very apparent as he consistently makes negative comments about other employees behind their backs to rooms full of people. The people are truly fantastic, they care about you, they can be friends, they can inspire you, they make you want to go to work. The developers are outrageously talented, some of the best out there, always on, always looking for the next best solution, the slickest new way to get it done. The creative team is hungry, they want to build award-winning smart and beautiful designs. The producers are the glue, they hold everybody in place, they keep the clients happy and the team buzzing along, they do it like no other, they are on point and on their game. The strategy, ux, ia, biz, and all others are brilliant, they have real drive to get things done and to only do it right, they care about the results and about the team. The management cares and isn't some stiff collared bunch. The company is much more to them. They care about the team and the culture and about being weirdos. They truly want it to flourish. The office is beautiful, great views of the whole city, snacks quite regularly, coffee perks from an awesome wholesome guy. It is shared with BBH, some good people, they like to enjoy themselves, they don't bite. Well again, it's what you make of it.. Like many jobs (and this is a job after all) you'll be asked to work on projects you may not find too interesting or that have timelines that are not ideal. You've got to make of it what you can, you can't expect it all to be fun and games. They will work you to the bone, but its up to you whether you make that work worth it or not. This isnt a job you can just coast thru, youve got to put in a lot of effort, and it can feel like the ceiling is coming down on you if you let it. My advice is don't let it. Break through if you can. Be stern, stand up for what you think is right. The team will get your back. The management like many people say here does have some kinks to work out.. resourcing can be tough and direction is hard to follow. Communication can be quite unclear and can easily derail a full day of work. There are more men than women, so the boys club comment still stands. And the management does seem to pick favorites which creates an unbalanced environment. The office is shared and the BBH side is difficult to break the ice with.. like I said earlier, they don't bite, but its hard to get to know people you don't directly sit near or work consistently (if ever) with. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 2.0 4.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 3.0 2.0 487025 Open Create an environment that rewards, encourages and fosters the growth of your employees. Let new ideas breath and grow. There are so many smart talented & driven women out there, hire them! Hire more directors, a creative director to help the overwhelmed designers, more senior staff to help manage the swamped mid levelers. Let those mid-level positions grow. Foster their growth. Compensate them appropriately. Give them a reason to want to move on up. Give time to internal projects and ventures. Say no to clients so that your teams can work together to do educational programs & workshops. Invest in your employees! Try to diversify your approach, find new methods to be product and tackle work. Let your team do their jobs. Let new out the old and in with the new. Give more time to projects so they can be focused on. If you think somebody or something is wrong, don't belittle them, listen to them, understand why they think it is right and then work to communicate your point of view. I've never worked with a better dev team. Collaborating with the folks here was a wonderful experience. The projects weren't too difficult to handle and the time lines were very reasonable. If you're a designer, to put it plainly, if you want your opinion to be considered or if you want any type of creative freedom, look elsewhere. The owner of this shop is very closed minded in that his way is the only way to do things and he is very afraid of change. He has two henchmen who tell the other designers to continue to do things his way which leaves room for little exploration. Constructive feedback is nonexistent leaving little to learn and grow. If you're an intern he'll take complete advantage of you and aims for getting you to do as much work as possible for little money. He is fond of excluding people out of projects and making them feel like their work is subpar. His henchmen do the same. The owner is very fond of stealing work from other designs that he finds on the internet leaving originality an aspect that doesn't exist. In fact, he will verbally ask you to steal from other designs because working out the problems oneself is a waste of time and money. That means that instead of exploring something in order to possibly create a new solution, the work is stuck with the same old stuff that everyone else does. You're going to be stuck in modular copycat design if you remain close minded. It's a good thing the DEV team is so wonderful or else you'd probably be screwed. Hard-working, eager creative team. Incredibly talented development team as well. Work is demanding, yet rewarding and interesting. Open harassment of employees. Fickle management. Have witnessed the partner/ECD make incredibly sexist remarks about women in the open. Management seems to prefer the cheaper cost of an intern than actually developing their full-time staff. Domani is a dynamic environment staffed with some of the smartest, creative and inspiring people I have worked with. There are high standards for creativity which requires going the extra mile, but as far as agencies go, work-life balance is good - better than it was a few years back when the company was in transition. The team is pretty tightly knit and collaborative. It’s a good, diverse culture with solid perks. The company is definitely on a growth path with bigger pitches and clients consistently coming in. If you don't like changing gears Domani may not be the place for you. Outstanding creative, strong company leadership, and the one of the best development teams in the business. My first project here won FWA SOTD, was recognized in CommArts, etc. Domani has an excellent reputation among competitor agencies, and success there means something to people in the industry. B-players will not last — that's a huge plus for the A-team. A healthy mix of long-term direct client relationships and interesting one-off projects keeps things fresh. Great people. Really inspiring overall. Wonderful place if you're just starting out and are eager to learn. Great for those who want to grow into a role. Creative climate seems to be maturing and appears to be heading in a solid direction. Very high turnover of employees. Most producers last half a year since it can be a very stressful fast paced environment. The management can be fickle and confusing at times. Developers last a little longer. Too few designers for the amount of responsibilities and tasks bestowed per week. Yet the design team is the most solid and long lasting even if small. Not many women, definitely a boys club. Creative team is inspiring and seem to stick around longer than most employees. Domani has a good reputation among digital agencies. Client list is reputable with some long term players. Cutting edge work. Some members of the executive team's method of management is intimidation, public humiliation, and harassment. Very few women last there more than a few months. People wanting to keep their Visa's seem to last there longer than most.
