Nice making good connections with wonderful companies and universities. Fantastic working with the students and making a huge difference in these students lives. Extremely satisfying and worth every second of the work that leads up to the students arriving to program. Had a blast traveling to numerous universities across the country. Somehow there's also turned into a sales role which they have employees for. No room for growth. Lots of closed meetings, gossip,and office politics. Lots of unanswered emails and late payments for stipends and misleading job summarys and false advertising for old internships on the website which in turn gives the students unrealistic expectations. In the summers you were are working almost 24 hours a day and not getting paid overtime, challenging being expected to live in the dorms as a grown adult with your own life being but on hold and still having to pay your rent. Challenging if you have children. A small group of the older employees do not like new blood with new ideas. Very hostile. Benefits were good and ability to travel. no leadership and communication was very difficult. Budget cuts and wasn't able to do my job well due to that. Recruiting job turned into a sales job spending less time on campuses and more time on the phone and selling internships programs. Each individual is here because of the passion and drive they have for helping college students, and it certainly shows in the day-to-day efforts. This is a great opportunity to get in the front door and kickstart your career. It's a good environment in with a 'Silicon Valley'-esque work culture that makes you appreciate the perks and amenities that most corporate environments don't have (a lot of vacation time, management is empowering to all employees, etc.) A great role to get in to as a young professional, straight out of college. Not much room for growth.
