Uber: The downfall of Drizly
|
|
Before Uber:
Great benefits.
$750 quarterly wellness stipend.
$200 CX only grocery monthly stipend
$40 Drizly Order stipend
Monthly Bonusly rewards.
Unlimited PTO.
Additional reward stipend for internal team wins
|
After Uber:
Accrued time off
Monthly $68 wellness stipend that is very limited to set list of things unlike our previous stipend
Leadership would either not know what's going on internally or unable to be transparent.
Basically our department was always the last to know big news even though we were at the front lines of all communication with partners and consumers.

T-minus two weeks before our doors are officially closed so not much input for management or leadership. Overall my time here was made priceless because of the team I worked so closely with on a daily basis. We all trauma bonded after officially joining with Uber since everything we loved about Drizly was literally stripped away one by one, brick by brick, just to give us the boot less than a year later
I'd say for any companies that are looking to be acquired by Uber, beware. Once that happens, its time to freshen up that resume because the lay off clock is ticking.
Love my team. Learned a lot working here. Hoping it will help on my next venture.

A Mixed Bag
|
|
Some of the nicest and most passionate people you'll ever meet. Drizly truly attracted some top tier (non leadership) folks. I had a lot of autonomy in my day to day, and was able to take on and manage interesting projects, both on my own team and cross-functionally. Benefits were also phenomenal, and remote work with office access if you were in Boston or Denver was great.
|
One of the worst change management processes I've ever seen. Leadership knew layoffs were happening months before the wider company was informed, which is not surprising, but I mention this because I was lied to and told 1) specific details about how I was likely to being promoted the next review cycle and 2) to stop worrying about layoffs because nothing was going to happen, by a leader who already had confirmed knowledge that our team was being impacted. I empathize that it's hard to have difficult conversations, but it is incredibly unprofessional to go out of your way to create a fictional scenario to avoid a hard conversation. I also had my computer access revoked before I was even able to read the CEO's "sorry your role has been impacted" email. Leadership is a lot of talk and zero action. Most large meetings were about changing initiatives with little focus. It's great to want to keep your people engaged but at the end of the day if engagement goes nowhere, is there even a point? Curious to see how things go with Uber. 2 stars here for the people, but given the way we were treated, I cannot in good faith recommend this company as a good place to work.

If everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority. You cannot say you "care" about your employees (putting in quotes because it was a company value), but only care when the conversations are easy.
