You have people in higher up management roles who don’t have a lot of ad experience. They have no expertise, not known for creativity, media, etc everything is subpar Also be prepared to work 60 hour weeks working through the night when they have network drops, because organization and time management is not one of their strong points. Doesn't Recommend Negative Outlook Disapproves of CEO I worked at DXagency full-time Pros - Coworkers are young and fun to work with. - Environment is great for on-the-job learning. - Most of the clients there look good on a resume. - Casual dress code. - Coordinators and managers often get to try their hand at multiple areas, such as design and development in some cases. It's a great learning experience, but should normally be done by those departments. - 401K - The company matches 401K contributions. - Free food on Fridays. - Work/Life balance is poor. You spend many nights there until 7:30 - 8PM. - The CEO also fulfills the role of HR, which is extremely inappropriate. There should be a separate person for HR at the very least. - Coordinators and managers are often overworked and timelines are often rushed. - Upper management often fails at guiding employees in the right direction for their given account. - The company refuses to hire more than 50 people to avoid changes in corporate taxes, which limits the amount of people that could potentially be working on any given client. - Nepotism in the office. - Design and development teams are overworked, adding more pressure and stress to already rushed timelines. Management is unwilling to hire new talent at fair compensation when employees leave due to the unrealistic timelines or stress, leaving departments overworked. - The company will often overlook real talent, leaving those employees stuck in the same position for years. - When promotions do occur, employees will receive a minor pay raise, but they often end up doing the same work as everyone else in their department. -- Most accounts are comprised of all managers doing the same work they did when they were entry level employees. -- Design and development employees are simply given more work without any new leadership responsibilities. - The internship program is passed along to a new employee to manage every few months, giving the program no real structure. Interns often end up doing menial, repetitive tasks because employees are overworked and lack the time to teach them anything. - Coordinators, managers, and some directors are required to become skilled in multiple areas, such as design and development in some cases. Those tasks should normally be done by those departments. - Large employee turnover in all departments. - The company will hire new talent as an independent contractor, giving them the right to deny you benefits for anywhere from the first 6 - 12 months of your employment. - Upper management cares very little about careers or development. They will gain knowledge and insight from different aspects of the industry. • Offer incentives. Good way to lower the high turnover • Dedicated parking spots • Properly pay the employees While DX is a great place to jumpstart your career, there are many aspects within the company that need improvement.
