Great mission. Great employees. New CEO seems to be exactly what the company needed. Everyone is on track to accomplish real goals.

The company is so focused on its mission, albeit honorable, that it lacks the career development I’m personally looking for... but I can’t speak for everyone on this. It might be different in mission-centric departments.

Take the time to understand what your employees are working on, and reward those who actually do a good job. Forget about irrelevant measures like "prestige" and "years of experience." Also, consider hiring people who aren't exactly like you into higher-level positions. Your company will be better for it.
