A good university to work for
|
At Egerton University, lecturers prepare and go to class. There is little supervision since the lectures know what is expected of them.
The lecturers also cooperate well with each other.
The best part of the job is that each lecturer is allocated units which he understands well. The only problem we had is that sometimes we teach for long hours because of a crash program occasioned by frequent students strikes.

Arrive at work at 8 am and finish any carryover work from the previous day. If no work carry-over, I embark on the day's activities. I give attention to students who have any consultations to make, prepare for my lessons, attend to departmental assignments as they come and also attend classes if I have any on that particular day

One can have a class starting at 7am then have another one starting at 6-7 pm on the same day

At Egerton, a typical working place involves lecturing and meeting students for consultation,. In some days it involves setting and administering exams which have to be graded later. Research is an on-going activity at this academic institution.
One of the things I have learned while working at this institution is that being focused in whatever you are doing can lead to achieving your objectives.
In this institution staff are allowed to think freely and interrogate different aspects of the society with a few of identifying any challenges and provide solutions for the improvement of the society
Witnessing students graduate is the most enjoyable part of thi job

On a typical day, i teach two classes, one in the morning and the other in the evening. I do assess my students on the content i have taught them. I also look for relevant local examples that can fit what i am teaching so that my students are able to contextualize the content taught.
