Great Experience

Great Experience, with the opportunity to learn a lot, either on business development or project management. As the team is small you end up being doing a lot of things. The management team want to make you learn and grow.
As all the strat-up sometimes it can be a rush and the organisation is not the best

Great Development Internship Experience
Dynamic team that cares a lot about what they do, but still new and small so you have responsibility, creative freedom, and are able to interact with everyone on the Epic team. I felt very well taken care of yet was happy with the independence and trust given to me - I was able to talk to influential people and take the lead on a few projects where I felt my ideas were listened to and implemented
- Good cause and people who care a lot about it
- Great leadership who want to push you and are welcoming
- Interesting work that you have control over
It is still a startup so can be chaotic and last-minute, however I felt that they put a LOT of work into fixing this when I was there
- Can be chaotic sometimes
- Depending on what kind of worker you are: startup environment with responsibility and self-led projects

Amazing Intern Experience
Working with smart, dedicated and passionate people and teams who is willing to take the time to teach and train new comers.
The opportunity to have been given important responsibilities as an intern.
Epic teams are very welcoming of your ideas, projects. They will make sure you are working on something you enjoy doing.
Due the nature of the organization (startup), there's a wide spectrum of tasks and projects you can be working on.
Working at Epic can be overwhelming for those who are used to working in a very predictable, organized, hierarchical environment. Every employee at Epic seem to be doing something more than what they are supposed to, simply because the work environment and the company culture allows for such flexibility. Some might be put off by a lack of strict structure.

Development Intern
Really relaxed work environment and structure. Everyone (including interns) are capable of reaching out to anyone within the organization and people are willing to stop to answer questions/give advice.
Slightly disorganized. The structure of the development team is spread across the world and it can be difficult to know what specific offices need to get done versus what needs to be coordinated.

Looking for an adventure? You’re at the right place
Really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the approach around philanthropy. It brings a fresh perspective to a field that often lacks capacity to reinvent itself.
The management is very supportive of testing new ideas. The motto is pretty much along the lines of “test, succeed and/or learn and move fast”. It’s definitely a start-up environment so you have to be willing and ready to work in a fast paced environment and be nimble enough to adapt to shifting focuses and strategies. That’s what makes it interesting but you have to be looking for that because it’s definitely not the hyper structured routine kind of job. For people who are entrepreneurial, looking to grow, be challenged and get out of their comfort zone I would highly recommend it. Every day is different and I think that’s what the teams appreciates.
Everyone in the team is super smart, always ready to take time to share insights and feedback even across different offices, time zones… There is a pretty open line of communication with the management and founder and there is always room to voice an opinion (although the team is pretty opinionated so be ready to come with arguments!)
It’s a growing team with a big ambition so it’s definitely a challenge to figure out work/life balance especially in a team with super passionate people who never count their hours.
Working across different time zones with a lot of people working remotely can also make it a little challenging on the team building side but they are definitely working on improving that.

The most intense and exhilarating work experience ever
I've been at Epic 3 years now and it's been the most intense job I've ever had. It's a start up in every sense of the word: hard work, long hours, dedication, passion and commitment. I wanted to work in philanthropy and I wanted high returns on my work. The pay is not very high and the work hard, so I must be convinced that my impact and Epic's collective impact are much higher than average. Otherwise I might as well have got a 9 to 5 job...!
Result? It's awesome. The people are super smart, super kind (goes with the nature of the job), totally selfless and ambitious at the same time.
Epic is not for the light hearted but for those who have strong beliefs in the impact of its disruptive approach to philanthropy.
Very international organisation so you work with people you don't see very often except on Skype.
I work too much, but I accept it since it's a start up. Haven't yet met someone who created a new business and told me it was a doodle.

Do you like 70 hour work weeks with low pay, high stress and horrible work culture? Then this job is for you!
Every day is different and since it's a startup, you do everything; this is good for people who like to try new things and not follow a routine. You have opportunities to meet new people IF you take advantage of them. The offices are typically nice. You have direct interaction with CEO when he's there. Many of the other employees are really nice and very smart people. If you're French, you will feel good when you say you work for Alexandre Mars because he's kind of famous.
People work 60-70 hours each week for really low (I mean LOW) salaries and the ones who are not full-time are interns (probably 65% of company is interns) who are lured in with promises of a position with "social impact" and "purpose" only to be tricked into slaving 40-50 hours and dealing with terrible management, unfulfilling work and more stress than you could imagine.
This experience scarred me and I know it's the same for many others who have left the company. Sexism and degradation runs rampant. There is no understanding of work/life balance and ZERO perks. You are expected to still answer emails and work on weekends, vacation, your son's birthday, while in labor... the list goes on. You forget about the mission of helping children because you never see that component. You could find as much "purpose" working for a corporation that gives to a charity.
My advice to you: ask them about employee turnover. Ask them about Epic's work culture and how many lawsuits they have against them. If they are pressuring you into accepting a low stipend or salary because they "receive hundreds of applications" (not true at all, they are always struggling to keep people and find new ones) so you should take it or leave it, or if you are questioning the interview process, maybe take it as a sign of how the rest of the company is managed.
