Soul sucking depressing place to get a paycheck

Middle managers (if you can call them that) are arrogant and care about nothing but their stature. Which, if you stop and take a look at the garbage this company sells it is baffling how anyone could think they were better than anyone else at this hell hole. Executives look down on you like you're nothing or won't even give you the respect of looking you in the eye or saying a simple "hello". This place was soul sucking and a unbelievably depressing environment to be in. I can think of a million other places someone should work before working here. Here are some ideas for better things to do for a living than working at Evergreen: picking up dead animals on the side of freeway, selling "Blue Sky" with your pal Jesse that you cook in your RV, and having an Only Fans account where people shell out money to see videos of your feet. Any of those things would be dramatically more fulfilling than throwing your time, talent and energy away at this bottomless pit of awful. Avoid this place like you would avoid a no-mask wearing Trump supporter.

Perception is that upper management is bad but the CEO is great. Can this possibly be true if bad reviewers are all saying the same? Can the CEO really be that unaware of these problems? I thought they were great also, but after seeing this many repeated reviews that were mirror images of my experience I'm thinking that the problem goes all they way to the top! Because they had a revolving door on the territory it took me more than 6 months to just get existing clients to believe that I would be back let alone there long enough to help them if a problem came up. I was increasing sales more than 30% over previous year but they wanted a 130% increase. Because that just wasn't possible in that environment I was let go. Little to no help. Little to no support. My direct report was AWEFUL! That may not have been her fault as she was the "hammer" but I saw the way that she communicated with reps that were doing well and it was also poor. Do yourself a favor--find a better company, believe me they are out there!

The company itself I think has the potential to be awesome. I enjoyed my co-workers and our connections.

Management and HR is so full of themselves. Don’t really care about the employees as long as they aren’t being scrunitinized. There’s no protocol when it comes to handing situations HR doesn’t ensure the validity of anything and it’s like the managers are in control where HR is supposed to be the driving force . Poor management skills effects the employees attitudes and behavior and work ethic. As well as they will overwork good employees without compensation and then not care about firing you after all your best efforts and hard work has been given to keep them afloat.

Decent Place to Start in Product Development in Richmond Area

This is probably the only place in Richmond to get experience with wholesaling, international vendor exposure, and developing physical products. As an assistant, you tend to experience different working with many different products, from clothing and accessories to home goods and decor. The product development department really drives the entire company and processes. Lots of learning and exposure especially for college graduates which is good.
|
The workload is pretty intense and you definitely need to either have a passion for the products or process to keep going in this department. The burnout for this position is real. Upward mobility is not really a priority and the company has a lot of growing pains. You don't get paid overtime, but the work really is never finished and will require you to stay over. Lots of early meetings and impromptu meetings and the products aren't too innovative enough to have kept me there. You may get the chance to travel on sourcing trips, but I was never asked to go. I would definitely recommend that people get management and work on their people skills and invest in their employees. Hiring more people to share the workload if the company wants to grow is necessary.
