-my mental health and well being has been so much better since i left

- no room for growth, the top will stay at the top
- workplace politics, was treated very poorly while i was there less of an asset more as someone who just takes up space at a desk
- extremely poor leadership
- horrible communication
- extremely boring, people think EDC is the government for a reason
- if you have any aspirations in life avoid this place at all costs

Current CEO priorities puts purpose and people over the revenue! (Crown Corp)

Our purpose is to help small and medium sized Canadians businesses prosper; revenue is secondary thanks to us being a crown corp. The latest CEO, Mairead Lavery is from the private sector, and she has made sweeping changes to modernize the leadership culture. Now all the organizational groups are aligned around a clear purpose and have clear priorities. Doing something I believe in, that helps people, makes a very personally satisfying experience.

The leadership group was very self-oriented and ineffective for many years, as that was the leadership culture. Many of the senior leaders had been there since they got out of school, in the 80s so there was not much diversity in people or experience. But this has changed, mostly from attrition but also from bold decisions - and it is so much better now. Finally we have more modern practices and processes in lending, risk management, and leadership. I just hope that it lasts - the CEO job is by appointment so changes every five years. It's a political appointment. I don't know much about the process, but having a poor leader in place makes a huge difference in culture.

Continue to hire senior leaders from the private sector! The time when EDC's Sr Leaders were 25-year organizational or government veterans was miserable. The private sector folks have brought in modern practices of risk management, strategy planning, and people management and it is making all the difference. I love coming to work since it makes a difference for Canadians! It's so important.
